THE OPPORTUNITY
The Transportation Engineer will plan and design roadway, corridor, intersection, transit, and multimodal improvements from analysis through construction. This role is for an engineer who can pair sound technical work with practical coordination and a clear understanding of safety, operations, constructability, and community context.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform transportation, traffic, roadway, intersection, safety, and multimodal analysis and design
- Prepare calculations, models, reports, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents
- Develop alignments, profiles, signing, striping, traffic-control, signal, drainage, and accessibility improvements as assigned
- Evaluate traffic operations, capacity, crash patterns, design alternatives, and performance measures
- Coordinate with planners, surveyors, utility teams, environmental specialists, agencies, and contractors
- Support permitting, public meetings, bid-phase services, construction administration, and field observations
- Manage assigned scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client communication
- Apply federal, state, and local design criteria and accessibility requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering from an accredited program
- 5+ years of transportation engineering, roadway design, or traffic engineering experience
- Proficiency with Civil 3D, MicroStation/OpenRoads, Synchro, HCS, Vissim, or comparable tools based on discipline
- Working knowledge of roadway, traffic, multimodal, safety, and accessibility design standards
- EIT required; Professional Engineer license preferred or the ability to obtain one
- PTOE certification preferred for traffic-focused positions
- Strong analytical, technical writing, coordination, and client communication skills
