About Lucid

At Lucid, we are creating exceptional mobility experiences through innovation to drive the world forward. Built on Lucid’s proprietary technology and software-defined vehicle architecture, our award-winning vehicles bring our “Compromise Nothing™” approach to the global automotive market. That means refusing to choose between performance and sustainability, design and engineering, ambition and integrity. In Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity, we have designed and built vehicles that have redefined their segments, combining exceptional range, performance, design, and expansive space in a single experience.

We achieve this through deep vertical integration, with design, engineering, and production happening in-house across our global offices and manufacturing facilities. Our teams come from industries around the world, united by a shared commitment to excellence. By refusing to settle, you can help redefine what’s possible and shape the future of mobility.

We are currently seeking a Test Engineer for our Power Electronics Test & Validation team. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly, and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
In this role you will execute component- and system-level validation of power electronics hardware, build and maintain test setups, and contribute to the development and execution of Design Verification Plans & Reports (DVP&R) under the guidance of senior team members.

Role:

  • Execute component- and system-level verification and validation testing for power electronics products (on-board chargers, DC-DC converters, inverters, and related high voltage assemblies), ensuring compliance with internal requirements and industry standards.
  • Support the development, execution, and maintenance of DVP&Rs: draft test cases from requirements, track test status and coverage, log results, and report pass/fail against acceptance criteria.
  • Review electrical and mechanical schematics and create test cell layouts for instrumentation, low voltage, and high voltage circuitry.
  • Build, wire, and commission test benches including jigs and fixtures, instrumentation, harnessing, and data acquisition systems for performance and reliability evaluation.
  • Contribute to the definition of system-level test setups, including load profiles, thermal and environmental conditioning, and HV/LV interface configurations, working closely with the lead
    validation engineer.
  • Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting using lab equipment (battery simulators, power supplies, E-loads, oscilloscopes, current probes, power analyzers, thermal chambers, DAQ systems).
  • Support root-cause investigation of test failures and anomalies, capture supporting data, and escalate findings with clear technical summaries.
  • Process and analyze test data, generate plots and summary metrics, and author clear, well-organized test reports.
  • Maintain lab equipment, calibration records, test documentation, and safe HV lab practices.
  • Collaborate with design, systems, quality, and manufacturing teams to support issue resolution and design iterations.

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in power electronics development and testing preferred.
  • Solid understanding of power electronics fundamentals (switching topologies, magnetics, control loops, thermal behavior).
  • Good hands-on experience with hardware test and validation, including bench build-up and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with various test equipment (force gauge, thermocouples, power supplies, multimeter, hi-pot tester, oscilloscopes, E-loads, DAQ).
  • Exposure to DVP&R creation and requirements-based test case development.
  • Knowledge of automotive and industrial environmental reliability requirements (GMW, ISO, IEC standards).
  • Working knowledge of high voltage safety practices and lab safety procedures.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly.

Preferred:

  • Experience with test automation and data analysis (Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or equivalent).
  • Experience with CAN communication and vehicle/bench-level diagnostic tools.
  • Experience testing HV automotive power conversion hardware in a lab or vehicle environment
