The Opportunity

As a Technical Writer, you will author, maintain, and standardize a wide range of technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), detailed work instructions, Quality records, and comprehensive training materials. This role bridges the knowledge gap between engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), and quality assurance to ensure all procedures are clear, scalable, and compliant. You bring strong technical writing and visualization skills, with the ability to quickly grasp and document complex hardware assemblies, precision systems, and operational workflows.

Role and Responsibilities

• Develop and update assembly, alignment, calibration, and test procedures for laser-based semiconductor tools.
• Work closely with engineering, optical, and manufacturing teams to proactively capture accurate process details.
• Produce illustrated work instructions and calibration/test guides using CAD drawings and photos.
• Create standardized guides, SOPs, and technical onboarding templates for new hires.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, SEMI, and laser safety (ANSI Z136) standards throughout all documentation.
• Partner actively with manufacturing operators, engineers, and design engineers to champion Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, ensuring documentation evolves with constructive feedback.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of technical writing experience in the capital equipment industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience developing documentation for complex systems across mechanical, optical, electrical, and software engineering disciplines.
• Skilled at translating complex technical concepts into clear, universally accessible documentation.
• Experience in developing and delivering technical training programs.
• Strong attention to detail, version control discipline, and procedural accuracy.
• Excellent written communication and visual presentation skills.
• Proactive communication style with a proven ability to confidently interface with and interview engineering and NPI Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
• Experience using PLM systems (e.g., Arena) for formal document control.
• Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and modern AI productivity tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of optomechanical assemblies, laser alignment, and motion/robotic subsystems.
• Proficient and reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical, and optical schematics.
• Basic understanding of CAD viewing tools (SolidWorks) for extracting illustrations.
• Working knowledge of SEMI and EHS documentation standards.
• Experience documenting compliance for ISO 9001, SEMI, and ANSI Z136 laser safety standards.
• Embraces a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset, regularly auditing existing documentation for clarity, accuracy, and process efficiency.
• High technical agility, with a track record of rapidly mastering and retaining knowledge of complex, proprietary hardware workflows.

• Base Salary Range: $110K - $125K
