Technical Sales & Service Engineer

Reports To:

Business Development Manager – Functional Electronic Coatings

Position Summary:

As a Technical Sales & Service Engineer, you will be responsible for driving business growth by providing both technical and commercial support to customers within the Functional Electronic Coatings (FEC) business. This role combines technical expertise, customer relationship management, and business development capabilities to identify new opportunities, promote innovative chemicals solutions, and support customers throughout the entire engagement lifecycle—from initial qualification to commercial implementation, and ongoing support.

The successful candidate will act as the primary technical and commercial interface for assigned customers, building strong relationships and ensuring customer requirements are effectively translated into tailored solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams, including Business Development, Product Management, Application Support, R&D, Marketing, and Operations, the Technical Sales & Service Engineer will deliver customer-focused solutions that drive sustainable revenue growth, market expansion, and long-term customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

· Identify and develop new business opportunities within assigned territories and market segments.

· Support the execution of regional business development strategies and annual sales plans.

· Prospect new customers and expand business with existing accounts.

· Maintain an active sales pipeline and ensure timely follow-up on opportunities.

· Gather market intelligence on customer investments, industry trends, and competitor activities.

Technical Sales

· Promote the company’s product portfolio by delivering technical and commercial value propositions.

· Understand customer manufacturing processes and recommend appropriate plating solutions.

· Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and customer training.

· Coordinate customer product evaluations, laboratory trials, and production qualifications.

· Prepare technical proposals, quotations, and commercial recommendations in collaboration with the Business Development Manager.

Customer Relationship Management

· Build and maintain strong working relationships with engineering, production, quality, purchasing, and management teams.

· Conduct regular customer visits to review process performance and identify growth opportunities.

· Support customer satisfaction by responding promptly to technical and commercial enquiries.

· Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and project progress using the company’s CRM system.

Technical Support

· Provide first-line technical support for customer processes.

· Assist customers in troubleshooting process and product performance issues.

· Work with Technical Service specialists on complex process investigations.

· Support implementation of new process technologies and product upgrades.

Project Coordination

· Coordinate customer qualification projects from initial trial through production approval.

· Monitor project milestones and communicate progress to customers and internal stakeholders.

· Ensure customer requirements are translated into actionable project plans.

Qualifications

Education

· Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Electrochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

· 3–8 years of experience in technical sales, application engineering, technical service, or process engineering within the electronics, semiconductor (IDM or OSATS), or surface finishing industries.

· Experience in plating and / or surface finishing is highly desirable.

· Customer-facing experience in B2B industrial markets is preferred.

Technical Competencies

Knowledge of one or more of the following areas is desirable:

· Copper, Nickel, Palladium, Gold, Silver, and Tin plating

· Deflash processes

· Selective and reel-to-reel plating

· High-speed cut strips plating

· Connector manufacturing

· Leadframe manufacturing

· Semiconductor assembly and packaging

· Adhesion promotion for metal surfaces

· Process control and chemical bath maintenance

Travel Requirements

· Based in Singapore

· Demonstrated flexibility to travel up to 60% of the time to customer locations in Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines, along with occasional international travel to support regional business initiatives, customer engagements, and industry events.
