Team Manager – Defence Theatre Logistics (DTL)

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Team Manager with licenses and security clearance to join our Defence logistics and warehousing team. This role is responsible for leading warehouse operations, inventory control, freight handling, and the safe movement of Defence-related equipment and materials. This role requires candidates to be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain the relevant Australian Government security clearance.

Based at HMAS Penguin, located in Mossman, NSW, the successful candidate will work in a team first, safety focused environment, where accuracy, accountability, reliability and teamwork are essential.

Duties will include use of WMS, MHE, inventory management, receiving, storing, picking, packing, and distribution of Defence equipment, supplies, and materials. The team Manager ensures that all tasks are performed in compliance with Toll Government & Defence contractual requirements, Defence regulations, safety protocols, and operational standards. The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.

How you’ll make the right impact 

As a Team Manager, you’ll be the backbone of our site operations, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant warehouse processes. Reporting to the Customer Service Manager and working closely with Team Members, you will: 

• Receive, store, pick, pack, and dispatch Defence equipment and supplies. 

• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment. 

• Use warehouse systems to manage stock accurately and action reports. 

• Maintain safety standards, site cleanliness, and compliance with Defence regulations. 

• Collaborate with your team to achieve operational targets and deliver results that matter. 

What you’ll bring 

We’re looking for motivated individuals who bring: 

• Experience in warehousing, logistics, or related industries.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Computer literacy – Microsoft suite and WMS (ERP).

• A current forklift license (or willingness to obtain one). 

• A valid driver’s license (C class). 

• Current NV 1 Security Clearance

• Physical fitness for manual handling tasks. 

• Strong teamwork and attention to detail. 

• A safety-first mindset. 

• Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize.

Eligibility to make the grade

• You Must be an Australian Citizen. 

• Be eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Defence Security Clearance (Baseline level or higher depending on role). 

• Be prepared to undertake pre-employment checks including criminal history, medical, and other background assessments.
