What’s the role

As a Tax Specialist (APAC & MEA), you will support direct tax activities across APAC and MEA, including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, UAE, and other countries as required. You will help ensure compliance with tax, statutory, and reporting requirements while partnering with Finance, Legal, and other business teams to deliver accurate and timely tax reporting, filings, and stakeholder support across Shell's diverse businesses.

 

What you’ll be doing

• Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual tax provisions, tax returns, and related tax reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prepare and file statutory accounts and support other regulatory reporting obligations.
• Support tax assessments, tax audits, and the resolution of tax and audit-related queries.
• Prepare direct tax computations, tax true-ups, and deferred tax provisions, ensuring timely submissions to revenue and statutory authorities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations, reporting requirements, internal controls, and governance standards.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, and other business teams to support tax compliance and reporting activities.
• Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, quality, and data integrity.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, business partners, and external statutory auditors.
• Support the delivery of quarterly tax reporting, annual tax returns, tax payments, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to reduce complexity, enhance efficiency, and promote best practices.
• Stay informed of business developments, accounting standards, and tax regulatory changes that may impact operations.
• Support the transition and standardization of direct tax processes to ensure effective and consistent delivery of tax activities.
• Communicate proactively and effectively with stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of issues and delivery of key activities.

 

What you bring

• Professionally qualified (e.g., CA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) with around 2 years of post-qualification experience in Tax.
• Experience in direct tax compliance, tax reporting, tax provisions, tax computations, and corporate taxation.
• Strong knowledge of corporate tax legislation, compliance requirements, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and reporting controls.
• Experience in financial reporting and statutory reporting processes.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP or similar platforms) and Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of AI tools and technologies, with the ability to apply them effectively in day-to-day business processes.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
• Strong customer focus with a proven track record of delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Experience partnering with senior finance stakeholders across country and regional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, competing deadlines, and stakeholders across different locations.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and integrity.
