TAX ANALYST – BUSINESS INCENTIVES

POSITION SUMMARY: The Tax Analyst – Business Incentives will be the primary technical resource for company-wide business incentives. In addition, they will have various tax reporting requirements, including Gross Receipts, Indirect, and Excise Tax returns. The Tax Analyst will be primarily responsible for investigating, understanding, pursuing, and administering any credit or business incentives that may be available to the Company. This position will take the lead in researching, pursuing, and administering credit and incentive programs that may be made available by various levels of government. In addition, the Analyst will oversee quarterly reporting on all Direct and Indirect Tax audits across the Tax function.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Following internal approval of a Business Incentive, drive the completion and submission of Business Incentive applications and represent NFI’s interests at hearings and council meetings.
• Monitor the legislative landscape for new and evolving credits and incentive programs applicable to the Company’s operations, and present key findings and recommendations to Senior Management on a quarterly basis.
• Provide both oral and written analysis, including recommendations, in pursuit of various Business Incentives or tax credits.
• Communicate the status of all Direct and Indirect Tax audits across the Company, working closely with the Canadian, UK, and U.S. Tax Managers.
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering (Facilities) in pursuing available incentives when considering business expansion plans (e.g., property tax abatements, use tax abatements, utility incentives, wage reduction credits, etc.).
• Oversee the monetization of various Business Incentives (BIs), comparing actual results to submitted applications and approved proposals to ensure the Company receives the benefits for which it qualifies.
• Prepare and file Federal Excise Tax returns and complete other additional tax filings as needed.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

• 2–4 years of experience with demonstrated progression of responsibilities in a corporate tax or finance environment, public accounting firm, or other related experience.
• 2–4 years of experience in Indirect Tax, with a strong understanding of U.S. tax determination rules.
• Demonstrated capability in project and program management, including drafting, organizing, and maintaining project documentation.
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Up to 10% travel; must be eligible to travel to Canada or the U.S

EDUCATION:

• BS in Finance or Accounting.
