The Talent Insight Designer & Technical Lead is a mid-tier hands-on role responsible for designing, building, and enhancing operational data products within Tier 1 HR applications and the broader HR technology stack.

This role develops dashboards, reports, embedded analytics, insight artefacts, and operational reporting products that help Talent, People & Culture, managers, and business leaders make informed decisions.

The role requires strong knowledge of HR technology analytics capabilities, particularly SAP SuccessFactors Stories, SAP People Intelligence, Phenom People, Skillsoft, and other HR technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain operational data products within Tier 1 HR applications and related HR technologies.
• Develop dashboards, reports, embedded analytics, visualisations, insight packs, and self-service reporting products.
• Build insight solutions across talent acquisition, talent growth, learning, skills, workforce planning, internal mobility, performance, succession, and retention.
• Translate approved requirements, KPI definitions, business rules, and user stories into accurate analytics outputs.
• Use SAP SuccessFactors Stories, SAP People Intelligence, Phenom People, Skillsoft, SAP Analytics Cloud, and other HR technologies to deliver operational insights.
• Partner with the Talent Analytics & Insights Business Partner, product owners, system owners, and business stakeholders to understand how insights will be used.
• Work with IT Data COE, data engineering, and platform teams to understand datasets, data models, integrations, and technical constraints.
• Support metric logic, semantic layer design, dashboard structure, reporting standards, filters, and access requirements.
• Validate data outputs, reconcile metrics, identify data inconsistencies, and support resolution of data quality issues.
• Create visualisations and dashboards that tell a clear story and make complex talent data easier to interpret.
• Apply data visualisation, user experience, and storytelling principles to improve usability and adoption.
• Develop prototypes, mock-ups, and proof-of-concept dashboards to test new insight ideas.
• Document report logic, data sources, metric definitions, assumptions, filters, access rules, and known limitations.
• Support user acceptance testing, dashboard demonstrations, release readiness, and business sign-off.
• Educate business users on how to use dashboards, interpret insights, and apply new analytics methods.
• Monitor usage, feedback, and performance of analytics products to identify improvements.
• Ensure analytics products comply with data privacy, access control, security, and responsible employee data use requirements.

Knowledge and Attributes

• Strong understanding of dashboard design, embedded analytics, operational reporting, insight storytelling, and HR data products.
• Strong knowledge of SAP SuccessFactors Stories, SAP People Intelligence, Phenom People, Skillsoft, and other HR technology reporting capabilities.
• Working knowledge of SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Business Data Cloud, Snowflake, and standard analytics / BI technologies.
• Good understanding of Talent, People & Culture, HR processes, workforce data, and employee lifecycle metrics.
• Good understanding of data modelling, KPI logic, metric definitions, filters, joins, hierarchies, and reporting structures.
• Ability to turn business requirements into practical, accurate, and visually compelling analytics artefacts.
• Ability to explain insights clearly to business users and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, especially for data accuracy, reconciliation, metric logic, access control, and visual design.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and data quality concerns.
• Good understanding of self-service analytics and how to design products that enable business users to explore data safely.
• Ability to work with business analysts, product owners, data engineers, architects, platform teams, and HR stakeholders.
• Curiosity about new analytics methods, AI-enabled insight generation, predictive analytics, and data storytelling.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
• Certifications or training in SAP SuccessFactors, SAP People Intelligence, SAP Analytics Cloud, Phenom People, Skillsoft, Snowflake, SQL, data visualisation, or Agile would be beneficial.
• Training in people analytics, workforce analytics, HR technology, or responsible data use would be advantageous.

Required Experience

• Relevant experience designing and developing HR dashboards, operational reports, embedded analytics, data products, or insight packs.
• Experience building reporting or analytics products in Tier 1 HR applications.
• Experience with SAP SuccessFactors Stories and exposure to SAP People Intelligence, Phenom People, Skillsoft, SAP Analytics Cloud, or similar HR technologies.
• Experience translating requirements into reporting outputs, dashboards, metric logic, and data visualisations.
• Experience working with HR, Talent, workforce, learning, recruitment, skills, or employee data.
• Experience with SQL, data validation, metric reconciliation, report testing, and data quality checks would be beneficial.
• Exposure to Snowflake, SAP Business Data Cloud, data warehouses, data lakes, or semantic layers would be advantageous.
• Experience applying data visualisation and storytelling techniques to make insights easier for users to understand.
• Experience supporting dashboard adoption, user training, analytics demonstrations, or self-service reporting enablement.
• Experience working in a global or matrixed organisation would be beneficial.
