Mission Software Systems (MSS) brings together expertise across intelligence, software, and cloud to deliver end-to-end capability supporting the full intelligence lifecycle, from planning through to dissemination and feedback. The team fosters a culture of innovation, leveraging modern engineering practices and shared infrastructure to rapidly build, test, and deploy software solutions across a range of environments, including cloud. MSS also plays a key role in advancing technology modernisation within Government, delivering scalable and adaptable solutions for complex enterprise challenges.

The Opportunity

Join the GEO SPACES Program, a nationally significant capability delivering geospatial and mission-critical systems that support Australia’s Defence and national security objectives. This is an exciting 4-month contract opportunity for a Systems Integration Engineer to contribute to the delivery of complex Defence ICT capabilities within a secure and operationally critical environment. Working alongside architecture, engineering, security and project teams, you will play a key role in ensuring integration activities are well understood, appropriately planned and ready for execution.

  • Review system requirements, technical documentation and interface artefacts to identify integration dependencies, risks, constraints and implementation considerations across complex ICT systems.

  • Support subsystem and interface assessments, providing engineering insights and recommendations that inform integration planning and technical decision-making.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align technical artefacts, integration activities and delivery outcomes, ensuring traceability and readiness for implementation.

  • Contribute to documentation uplift, risk and dependency management, implementation planning activities and governance reviews that support successful program delivery within a Defence environment.

About You

You are an experienced Systems Integration or Systems Engineer with a background working in Defence, government or other complex enterprise ICT environments. You enjoy solving integration challenges, working across technical disciplines and helping ensure systems are delivered in a structured, well-governed and operationally effective manner.

Essential

  • Experience in Systems Integration Engineering, Systems Engineering, Integration Engineering or a similar role supporting complex ICT environments.

  • Understanding of system integration, interface management, technical documentation, subsystem design and implementation planning.

  • Ability to identify technical dependencies, integration risks, delivery constraints and sequencing considerations across interconnected systems.

  • Knowledge of ICT architectures, infrastructure environments, security controls, operational support models and service transition activities.

  • Experience collaborating with architecture, engineering, security and project teams to review, align and improve technical artefacts and delivery outcomes.

  • Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Advantageous

  • Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering, Information and Communications Technology, Cyber Security, Infrastructure Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Experience supporting Defence governance, design assurance, security accreditation or service transition activities.

  • Exposure to documentation uplift initiatives, CDRL reviews, implementation planning, ROM development or project scheduling activities.

  • Familiarity with structured engineering methodologies, requirements management tools and architecture review processes.

  • Experience working within classified or multi-classification Defence ICT environments.

This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold an active NV2 Security Clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DISA.
