EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 10 years of legal experience, with significant in-house or corporate counsel experience.
- Experience as General Counsel or senior in-house counsel strongly preferred along with demonstrated expertise in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, ethics, contracts, and financial services law.
JOB SUMMARY
- The Deputy General Counsel is part of the enterprise level legal strategy team for Capital Credit.
- This role would assist in overseeing corporate governance, regulatory engagement, standards of conduct, litigation, contracts, and strategic initiatives.
- This role serves as a key advisor to executive leadership and the Board, drives legal risk management, and reduces reliance on outside counsel.
- The Deputy GC ensures compliance, supports enterprise transactions, and develops long term succession depth within the Legal department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Advise executive leadership and the Board on corporate governance, policy, and compliance matters.
- Oversee, draft, and negotiate corporate contracts and enterprise agreements.
- Manage litigation strategy, coordinate outside counsel, and monitor legal risk.
- Lead regulatory engagement, compliance collaboration, and policy development.
- Provide guidance on HR matters, standards of conduct, and internal policies.
- Oversee legal strategy for distressed credit resolution and complex transactions.
- Support strategic transactions and enterprise-level initiatives.
- Develop succession planning and depth within the Legal department.
- Monitor evolving legal and regulatory requirements to anticipate business impact.
