What's the role
Supply Chain Manager, Canada
Shell Canada is looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead supply chain strategy, commercial delivery and operational performance across our two Canadian manufacturing sites, based at the Shell Scotford Refinery.
This is a senior leadership role with significant influence across the business. You will shape and deliver competitive, safe and reliable supply chains that support Shell’s refining and manufacturing ambitions in Canada, while leading a team of supply chain professionals across multiple locations.
What you’ll be doing
As Supply Chain Manager Product Refining, Canada, you will set the strategic direction for supply chain and translate it into a practical multi-year plan. You will work closely with senior leaders, site leadership teams, category management, suppliers and other stakeholders to deliver cost competitiveness, strengthen operational- and supplier performance and embed safe, compliant ways of working.
You will also manage warehouse and logistics performance, build strong supplier and stakeholder relationships, and develop an engaged, capable and diverse supply chain team.
Accountabilities
- Develop and deliver a clear supply chain strategy for Shell’s Canadian manufacturing sites, aligned with business priorities and performance ambitions.
- Lead commercial strategies for key spend areas, driving value, competitiveness, supplier performance and demand aggregation opportunities.
- Partner with senior business and site leaders to ensure supply chain plans, risks and performance are understood and effectively managed. Represent Supply Chain as a senior leader within the Canadian site leadership environment.
- Partner directly with Production, MTAC, Projects, Engineering and Finance to support safe, reliable and competitive asset delivery. This role directly influences maintenance, turnarounds, capital delivery, inventory availability and contractor performance.
- Drive continuous improvement across contracting strategies, post-award contract management, logistics, warehousing and operational delivery.
- Drive Post Award Contract Management. Prevent commercial value leakage, contract compliance, invoice assurance, supplier productivity and intervention where contractor performance is below expectation.
- Embed safe, ethical and compliant ways of working across supply chain activities, including HSSE, worker welfare and assurance requirements.
- Work closely with Shell’s category management organisation and other peer groups to deliver integrated and efficient support to the business.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing supply chain team, building capability, engagement and a strong talent pipeline.
What you bring
We are looking for a commercially strong supply chain leader who can shape strategy, deliver results and inspire teams in a complex operating environment.
- Uncompromising commitment to safety, ethics, compliance and responsible business practices.
- Significant supply chain, contracting, procurement or commercial leadership experience, ideally in an asset-intensive or manufacturing environment supporting large turnarounds, outages, construction programs or other schedule-critical events.
- Strong commercial acumen, with a track record of delivering value through complex deals, supplier strategies, negotiations and contract management.
- Evidence of leading through ambiguity, constructively challenging stakeholders, making timely decisions and building accountability across both direct teams and business partners.
- Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders, influence across organisational boundaries, and translate business priorities into supply chain plans.
- Experience leading diverse, cross-functional teams and developing people, capability and performance.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term transformation with disciplined day-to-day delivery. Able to manage conflicting priorities in a sensible and efficient manner.
- Strong understanding of supply chain fundamentals, cost drivers, supplier performance, operational risk and governance.
- Clear, confident communication style, with the ability to simplify complex topics and engage different audiences.
- Able to work with internal and external stakeholders, collaborate effectively, challenge status quo, drive change (business improvement) and coach others.
