What Nuclear Manufacturing contributes to Cardinal Health

Manufacturing is responsible for cost of production and maintenance activities including process improvement, supply chain management, quality assurance, employee safety and engagement, and environmental commitment.

Nuclear Manufacturing is responsible for the manufacturing of time sensitive radiopharmaceuticals in an integrity driven, highly regulated environment (i.e. FDA, NRC, DOT) to support patient treatment through disease diagnosis, staging, and monitoring.

Shift/Schedule

  • Saturday – Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. (Must be flexible to stay until production is complete.)
  • Candidates must be flexible to work different days, schedules, or hours based on business needs.
  • Due to production schedules, candidates must be flexible to work holidays based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • The Supervisor is expected to remain actively engaged throughout the shift with their direct reports during daily manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a consistent presence in the manufacturing area, providing real-time direction, coaching, support, and oversight while working alongside the team.
  • Actively participates in critical unit operations, including dilution and dosing activities, to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures. Direct involvement supports operational awareness, effective execution, and equitable distribution of radiological exposure among qualified personnel in accordance with ALARA principles.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of I-123 iodine capsule manufacturing activities within a cGMP-regulated pharmaceutical production environment.
  • Communicates operational priorities and directs manufacturing activities to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives. Manages work assignments, staffing, training, cGMP compliance, and safety requirements for manufacturing personnel.
  • Collaborates with manufacturing leadership and support departments to plan work schedules, staffing, equipment, and material requirements necessary to meet production demands and business objectives.
  • Ensures effective utilization of personnel resources by establishing performance expectations, monitoring results, providing coaching and accountability, and conducting ongoing performance discussions, including OTTT discussions and annual performance reviews.
  • Develops, recommends, and supports implementation of policies, procedures, and programs that enhance safety, quality, compliance, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensures all required training, personnel records, and timekeeping activities are completed accurately and maintained in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Coordinates vacation, leave, and time-off requests to maintain operational continuity.
  • Monitors and reports key manufacturing metrics, including safety, quality, production, and operational performance indicators.
  • Leads troubleshooting and resolution of processes, equipment, material, and personnel issues, ensuring timely escalation when appropriate.
  • Conducts and/or facilitates non-conformance (NCR) investigations, ensuring timely identification of root causes, implementation of corrective actions, thorough documentation, and compliance with applicable regulatory and company requirements.
  • Promotes and reinforces a culture of safety, quality, cGMP compliance, accountability, continuous improvement, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of experience, preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • Willingness to obtain certifications needed for the role such as an Authorized User and forklift certifications
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Comfortable working in a nuclear environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to provide direction, coaching, mentorship, accountability, performance management, and employee development while reinforcing safety, radiation protection principles, first-time-right execution, cGMP compliance, quality standards, and operational efficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with direct reports, peers, supporting departments, and leadership.
  • Strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and execution skills with the ability to coordinate multiple activities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, chemical processing operations, production scheduling, and cGMP compliance requirements, with the ability to understand and effectively oversee all aspects of the manufacturing process preferred
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to regularly work in restricted manufacturing areas and actively participate in production activities. Ability to work in environments involving chemicals, fumes, heat, cold, and other controlled workplace hazards while adhering to all required safety procedures.
  • Ability to manage weight up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities including standing for extended periods, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, reaching, and crawling as required.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform process-related mathematical calculations, including weighing materials, calculating percentages, and other manufacturing measurements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other business systems used to support manufacturing operations.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment and tools. Ability to read and interpret SOPs, batch records, and technical documentation, accurately complete production documentation, and clearly communicate operational events and activities.

Anticipated salary range: $92,000 -$131,300
