About this Role

As a Structural Engineer within the Structural Design Department, you will report to the Senior Structural Engineer and play a key role in designing structures across a range of projects, managing them from initiation through to closure. You will ensure that designs meet client requirements while adhering to deadlines, budgets, quality standards, and contractual obligations. This role also involves providing technical guidance and on-the-job training to draftsmen and less experienced structural engineers, with supervisory responsibility for approximately 1-4 direct and 2-4 indirect reports.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Delivery

• Understand owner/client design requirements and coordinate with the Senior Structural Engineer and project architects/engineers throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adequate structural provisions.

• Develop schematic and detailed designs, structural drawings, calculations, reports, and outline specifications in line with company policies and the Design Matrix Responsibility.

• Apply international codes and engineering software (ETABS, STAAD, SAFE) to calculate structural loads and design core elements — foundations, columns, walls, slabs, retaining walls, and seismic/wind stability.

• Determine required material and component quality, and implement design solutions that support project sustainability.

• Maintain quality control on all drawings and calculations, ensuring accuracy, code compliance, and adherence to company standards.

• Review technical specifications and quantities, and stay current on advancements in structural materials and codes of practice.

Project & Stakeholder Coordination

• Support the Senior Structural Engineer on proposal inputs (man-month estimates, drawing volumes) and sub-consultant evaluation during RFPs.

• Coordinate with the project team to keep designs on schedule and budget, updating the Senior Structural Engineer on progress.

• Support the QS department on BOQs, costs, and specifications as needed.

• Respond to site engineers' technical queries, assist with verifying contractor-submitted materials, and attend site meetings as required.

Compliance & People Management

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws; support the Senior Structural Engineer in maintaining section policies.

• Protect design confidentiality at all times.

• Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to draftsmen and junior structural engineers.

The job holder may be required to undertake additional duties reasonably expected and consistent with the function of the role.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required).

• 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in a similar role.

• Full proficiency in Revit and/or BIM modeling software

• Working knowledge of CAD software and relevant design/engineering software (e.g. ETABS, SAFE); BIM experience is required.

• Strong knowledge of international standards and codes
