Streetworks & Utilities Co-Ordinator

The IOS alliance works across multiple disciplines including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation. Incorporating new construction, replacement or repair. Spanning the entirety of Anglian Waters asset base.

To ensure water and water recycling projects area are managed successfully from inception to completion, ensuring all required standards, regulations, commercial affordability targets and time frames are met, we are looking for a Project Engineer to join the team who will be prepared to travel within the East Anglia area.

What will you be doing as our new Streetworks & Utilities Co-Ordinator?

You’ll work within the RUST team and supports the organisation in the management of highways activities including compliance with Street Works permits and all associated agreements and tasks.  

Accountable for the timely and accurate provision of comprehensive utility information to the delivery team (through the designer), to the scope requested through the coverage areas prescribed at the time of request. 

Our Street Works & Utility Co-ordinator will be critical to assisting in the successful delivery of the Integrated Operational Solutions (IOS) programme of works, reporting to the Construction Material and Recycling Lead. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Co-ordinating the day-to-day work activities that will take place on the public highway network. Ensure safety of the travelling public and to minimise traffic congestion. 
• Co-ordinating utility search applications, ensuring they are processed in a timely manner to ensure no delays on planned works. 
• Monitoring Causeway for road space availability, and collaborative working opportunities with other work promotors. 
• Administer compliant notifications for uncharted services within the utility sector. 
• Raise permits in compliance with the DFT Permit Schemes Conditions, and County Council requests, ensuring alignment with IOS build programmes. 
• Monitor permits in accordance with the NRSWA Act 1991, and HAUC Code of Practice September 2020, to prevent overrun charges, Fixed Penalty Notices, inspection defects, and ensure that all conditions and modifications have been implemented on the permit. 
• Responsible for applying for an application for a Temporary Traffic Regulations Orders, relating to road closures, speed restrictions, from the Local Authority. 
• Liaise with Anglian Water, Parish and County Council’s across the county, stakeholders, and the public, assisting with queries, updates, and requests. 

Key Skills & Behaviours: 

• Knowledge and ability to interpret legislation relevant to latest New Roads and Street Works Act, Traffic Management Act and Permit Conditions COP.
• Use own initiative to interpret the street works legislation and regulations to provide guidance and support to colleagues within the team.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external people.
• Can work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative.
• Customer service skills.
• Strong IT skills, proficient in the use on Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience and knowledge of permit and utility systems.
