Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $31.09 - $32.26. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

The Stores Clerk – Receiving plays an essential part in ensuring the accurate, timely, and efficient flow of supplies throughout the hospital. By maintaining precision and accountability in all receiving and inventory functions, this position directly contributes to the exceptional patient care and operational excellence that define HSS.

Job Purpose

The Stores Clerk – Receiving is responsible for accurately recording and managing incoming goods, ensuring data integrity within hospital systems, and maintaining proper documentation for audit and compliance. This role supports operational efficiency and timely supply availability for clinical teams—helping HSS deliver the highest standards of care with integrity and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

Data Entry & Documentation

• Accurately enter receiving information from packing slips and purchase orders into the Lawson system.
• Scan and index packing lists to purchase orders using the OnBase software program.
• Ensure all documentation is complete, organized, and readily available for audit or review.
• Maintain accurate records to support timely invoice processing and vendor payment.

Receiving & Delivery Operations

• Receive and inspect all incoming shipments; verify accuracy of contents and note any discrepancies, damages, or shortages.
• Deliver materials and packages promptly to the appropriate hospital departments.
• Assist with organizing, labeling, and storing materials in designated locations to maintain optimal inventory flow.
• Keep dock and staging areas safe, clean, and orderly at all times.
• Lift and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds as required.

Communication & Collaboration

• Respond promptly to inquiries from hospital departments regarding deliveries and receipts.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Logistics, and Supply Chain staff to manage returns and resolve delivery issues.
• Identify and report any shipments missing purchase order details or requiring clarification.
• Work effectively as part of a team dedicated to supporting the needs of clinicians and patients.

Additional Duties

• Assist in the general storeroom or warehouse as needed, performing stocking, rotation, and cycle counting activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and help identify process efficiencies aligned with HSS’s commitment to excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Logistics.

Education & Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in data entry, receiving, logistics, or supply chain operations preferred.
• Familiarity with Workday, or similar inventory management systems preferred.
• Ability to lift packages exceeding 50 lbs and perform physical tasks safely.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
