Job Title: Staff Software Engineer
Location: Bangalore- Manyata tech Park
Business & Team: Institutional Banking & Markets Technology
Impact & contribution:
The DPX squad supports CBA's Deal Pricing & ESG (Environmental & Social Governance) platform, a vendor-managed SaaS solution (Brilliance Financial Technology) used across Institutional Banking & Markets and Business Banking for pricing and ESG assessments.
As the platform is vendor-hosted, this role is not a traditional product development position. Instead, the Software Engineer is CBA's primary technical interface into the platform — owning API integrations, identity and security configuration, environment and release management, test automation, and production incident resolution. The role requires someone equally comfortable writing integration and automation code and coordinating technical issues through to resolution with a third-party vendor.
This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys solving integration, security, and reliability problems rather than building greenfield application features.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain integrations between CBA systems and the DPX platform via REST APIs, including request/response contracts defined through OpenAPI.
- Own API Gateway configuration, mTLS certificate management, and secure service-to-service communication.
- Manage identity and access integration, including SAML/SSO configuration and identity federation between CBA and the vendor platform.
- Lead security and vulnerability remediation activities, including triaging and resolving findings raised through SCA tooling (Snyk).
- Build and maintain automated test coverage (API and regression) to reduce reliance on manual testing across releases.
- Manage environment configuration across Dev/Test/UAT/PPT/Production, ensuring consistent and auditable configuration-as-code practices.
- Own CI/CD pipeline onboarding and maintenance using GitHub Actions and the organisation's reusable workflow templates.
- Maintain ETL and batch file processing routines (CSV/batch) supporting data import/export between CBA systems and the platform, while leading the transition of these flows to JSON-based API integration.
- Perform SQL-based data analysis and troubleshooting to support defect diagnosis and data quality issues.
- Lead technical investigation and root cause analysis for production incidents, coordinating resolution with the vendor (Brilliance) where required.
- Participate in release planning, deployment coordination, and go-live technical readiness activities.
- Maintain clear technical documentation for integrations, configurations, and support runbooks.
Core Responsibilities
- Languages/Platform: Strong C# and .NET experience; solid object-oriented design principles; comfortable working within configuration-driven platforms rather than building from scratch
- APIs: Hands-on experience designing and consuming REST APIs, working with JSON payloads, and documenting/interpreting OpenAPI/Swagger specifications
- Security & Identity: Practical experience with mTLS, certificate/PKI management, SAML/SSO, and identity federation patterns
- Security Remediation: Experience triaging and remediating vulnerabilities identified via SCA tooling (e.g. Snyk)
- CI/CD: Experience with GitHub Actions, including onboarding to reusable/shared workflow templates for build and deployment pipelines
- Environment & Release Management: Experience managing configuration differences across environments and coordinating release deployments
- Production Support: Demonstrated experience in incident troubleshooting and root cause analysis in a production support context
- Tooling: Proficient with Git, Postman or Bruno
Essential Skills:
- 12+ Experience working with a vendor-managed SaaS platform (rather than an internally built product), including vendor escalation and issue management
- Test automation experience (API-level and/or UI) — Playwright, RestAssured, Postman/Newman, or similar
- Financial services domain exposure, particularly lending, pricing, or ESG/sustainability assessment processes
- Experience with API Gateway technologies
- Familiarity with Agile delivery practices (Jira, Confluence) and participation in ceremonies such as sprint planning and retrospectives
- SQL skills; experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL/batch file processing (CSV or similar)
Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
