The Staff Commodity Manager – Key Technologies (Electro-Mechanical) is a highly technical sourcing and supplier management leader responsible for the global strategy, supplier performance, and commercial management of Beckman Coulter's electro-mechanical commodity portfolio.  The successful candidate will act as the primary business partner for Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D teams, evaluating supplier technical capabilities, driving value engineering initiatives, supporting new product introductions, and developing sourcing strategies for critical electro-mechanical components and assemblies.

This position reports to the Sr. Manager,  Commodity Management and is part of the Global Procurement organization located in Indianapolis, Indiana and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Lead the global sourcing and supplier strategy for the Key Technologies (Electro-Mechanical) commodity portfolio, including precision machined component assemblies, motion control devices, electromechanical systems, motors, sensors, and related technologies.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D teams to align sourcing strategies with product performance, manufacturability, and business objectives.
• Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes, technical capabilities, automation technologies, capacity, and quality systems to support supplier selection and development.  Drive value engineering, design-to-cost, should-cost modeling, and supplier innovation initiatives to improve product performance and reduce total cost.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI), supplier qualification, component transfers, dual-sourcing, and risk mitigation projects across global manufacturing sites.  Lead RFQ activities with a strong focus on technical evaluation, manufacturing feasibility, quality requirements, total cost, and supplier scalability.
• Develop deep knowledge of electro-mechanical technologies, manufacturing methods, materials, and industry cost drivers to influence sourcing and engineering decisions.

The essential requirements of the job include

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related technical discipline. 5+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, supplier engineering, commodity management, procurement engineering, strategic sourcing, or related technical roles.
• Strong understanding of electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes.  Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T requirements, bills of material, and manufacturing process documentation.
• Experience evaluating supplier manufacturing capabilities including machining, sheet metal fabrication, molding, electromechanical assembly, automation, and testing processes.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality organizations to resolve technical and supply chain challenges.  Proven ability to lead cost reduction, supplier development, value engineering, or process improvement initiatives.
• Procurement and supplier negotiation experience with the ability to balance technical, quality, and commercial requirements.

Travel Requirements:

• Ability to travel – 10% both domestic and international.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Procurement Engineering, or Strategic Sourcing of electro-mechanical commodities.  Experience supporting regulated industries such as Medical Device, Life Sciences, Diagnostics, Aerospace, or Industrial Manufacturing.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, DFM/DFA, or Design-to-Value experience.  Experience with supplier qualification, APQP, PPAP, process validation, and technical risk assessment.
• MBA, Master's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent technical leadership experience.
