Job Overview

Coupang relies on technology to provide on-time, fast delivery of products to customers every day. Fulfillment Execution (FEX) organization optimizes the real-time distribution of customer orders to FCs nationwide and supports the most efficient order fulfillment process. Building highly available and scalable systems to handle billions of order & delivery transactions and support Coupang’s rapidly growing Product Commerce business is a complex architectural challenge. We are responsible for delivering products to millions of online shopping customers by improving order reconciliation with technology. To deliver on this challenge, we are looking for an experienced and passionate engineer who can design and build large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed services.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of total experience
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain the core Workflow Platform infrastructure, including Temporal, Netflix Conductor, and other distributed workflow orchestration systems
• Architect and deliver highly scalable, resilient, and high-performance platform services with exceptional system design and engineering excellence
• Benchmark, measure, and optimize platform performance by collecting metrics, publishing results, and driving continuous improvements in reliability, throughput, and latency
• Ensure platform availability and operational excellence through observability, monitoring, alerting, incident management, and 99.995% uptime objectives
• Estimate, provision, and scale infrastructure capacity to support diverse customer workloads while optimizing performance and cost efficiency
• Develop and operate mission-critical backend services and distributed systems in AWS using Java, Spring Framework, and modern cloud-native practices
• Investigate and resolve complex system issues, identify root causes, implement preventive measures, and continuously raise the operational excellence bar
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to build open, extensible platform capabilities and deliver innovative solutions at scale

Preferred Qualifications

• Lead, coach, and develop high-performing software engineers while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous growth
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with end users, business stakeholders, and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions that achieve business objectives
• Drive technical design discussions and guide engineering teams through architecture, implementation, and delivery of scalable solutions
• Champion Agile software engineering best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, testing, CI/CD processes, and live-site operations
• Demonstrate leadership in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments to align priorities and successfully execute strategic initiatives
• Solve complex business and technical challenges through creative thinking, data-driven decision making, and strong partnerships across teams

Pay & Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of living across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.   

The base pay for this position ranges from $162,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $220,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
