The Staff Accountant role will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, payroll processing, lease accounting, financial reporting and assisting with month-end close processes. Position Overivew: The Staff Accountant role will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, payroll processing, lease accounting, financial reporting and assisting with month-end close processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and a commitment to maintaining financial integrity. The Staff Accountant will formally report to the Senior Accounting Manager as part of the corporate accounting team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Prepare journal entries across all components of the financial statements with a robust understanding of debits, credits, and relationship between income statement and balance sheet.
· Prepare balance sheet reconciliations as part of the month-end process ensuring all financial transactions are complete, accurate, and recorded in the correct period.
· Process payroll accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with applicable payroll regulations and maintaining the confidentiality of employee information.
· Perform lease accounting activities, including maintaining lease records, preparing journal entries, reconciling lease-related accounts, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards
· Foundational understanding of accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP, ensuring consistency and compliance across the organization.
· Execution of financial reporting deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders ensuring all deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
· Ensure adherence to internal accounting policies and procedures; assist in implementation and maintenance of internal controls.
· Provide financial data and analysis to support budgeting and forecasting efforts; collaborate cross-functionality with other departments to gather relevant financial inputs.
· Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and reporting assigned by the finance leadership team.
· Participate in the execution of our annual inventory count procedures in accordance with company policies and procedures.
· Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in month-end close process, financial reporting, and inventory management.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Skills:
• Preferred but not required - CPA or CPA candidate
• Preferred experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience working in a company with multiple locations across the US
• Public accounting experience
• Experience with Syspro and/or Epicor ERP systems
• Proficiency in Power BI or similar business intelligence tools
• Financial systems implementation experience
Requirements:
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with SOX compliant environment
• Experience with payroll processing and payroll-related account reconciliations
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment meeting monthly close and reporting deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
Physical Requirements:
• Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment.
• Requires prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer workstation.
• Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
• Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching may be required.
• Ability to lift and carry files, records, and office materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Regular visual focus and attention to detail are required for reviewing financial data, reports, and computer screens.
