Northrop Grumman is looking for an experienced Sr. Principal Executive Communications Representative to join our company’s executive communications team. In this role, this communications representative is responsible for working across our company teams to help develop communications strategies to positively impact Northrop Grumman’s reputation and build trust with key stakeholders including potential employees, current employees, customers, and fellow thought leaders. This position will be located in Falls Church.

Your communications expertise, knowledge of the national security environment, and business acumen will be vital as you help to position the company as an innovation and technology leader in aerospace and defense.  

The person selected for this role must be a strong writer and critical thinker who enjoys collaborating with senior executives to create compelling, impactful content to help showcase Northrop Grumman’s role as a leader in the Defense Industry and beyond. Reporting to the Executive Communications Manager, they will be a trusted partner to the C-Suite and help to develop executive-level content for leaders across the enterprise. This candidate will combine a deep understanding of current events and Northrop Grumman’s business objectives to identify meaningful opportunities for engagement inside and outside the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Communications Manager with researching, planning, writing, and editing executive communications, including speeches, talking points, social media content, op-eds, and senior leader preparation materials.
  • Develop and manage CEO social media content and digital communication strategies to drive engagement across defined priority audiences and focus areas.
  • Develop, maintain, and apply executive voice guidelines and key messages to ensure consistency across all executive communications.
  • Review and assess executive-level invitations and requests for internal and external engagements and develop clear recommendations and responses.
  • Gather, maintain, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to assess executive communications effectiveness, in partnership with the Digital Readiness, Measurement and Insights team.
  • Collaborate with communications representatives across the enterprise to develop and implement comprehensive executive communications strategies and plans that align with business objectives and stakeholder engagement priorities.
  • Implement and continuously refine processes that support long-term planning, high-quality content development, disciplined execution, and meaningful insights across all executive communications activities.
  • Participate, as required, in enterprise-level integrated planning teams focused on key Northrop Grumman communication priorities or programs.
  • Uphold Northrop Grumman standards for quality, ethics, security, and brand, ensuring all executive communications are accurate, compliant, and aligned with company priorities.

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience OR master’s degree in communications or related discipline with 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Excellent writer, strong editor
  • Experience writing for executive-level leadership
  • Experience working in collaborative, matrixed team environments
  • Experience with enterprise-level social media strategy
  • Proven success developing and executing integrated communications strategies
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time; travel may include intra-office within the DC metro area, as well as other sites, as needed 
  • Must be a United States citizen

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a large, matrixed and/or geographically dispersed organization; U.S. Government experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in technology, aerospace, defense or other science-related business or government field
  • Sound judgment in decision making and leadership actions with proven abilities to drive change through creative methods, ideas and approaches
  • Willingness and eligibility to be granted an SCI security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $117,500.00 - $176,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
