Sr Manager, Managed Service Delivery

Description -

Job Summary

The Manager, Professional Services / Delivery is responsible for leading a team of experienced professionals who deliver complex solutions and services to customers. This role is centered on leadership, business acumen, strategic thinking, talent development, and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will be an experienced people leader who can establish direction, build high-performing teams, manage priorities across a dynamic business environment, and connect day-to-day execution to broader organizational and customer objectives.

While the team may include highly specialized technical consultants, project managers, or other subject-matter experts, this role is not expected to serve as the primary technical expert or individual contributor. The manager’s responsibility is to create the environment, structure, priorities, and accountability that enable skilled professionals to perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of experienced professionals responsible for customer-facing solution and service delivery.
  • Establish clear priorities, expectations, and accountability while empowering team members to apply their expertise and make sound decisions.
  • Build a high-performing team culture focused on collaboration, ownership, customer success, continuous improvement, and business results.
  • Translate organizational strategy and business priorities into actionable plans for the team.
  • Understand customer and business objectives and ensure team resources are aligned to the highest-value priorities.
  • Apply strong business judgment when balancing customer requirements, resource capacity, financial considerations, delivery risk, and organizational priorities.
  • Partner with sales, delivery, operations, technical organizations, and other cross-functional stakeholders to support successful customer outcomes.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and emerging issues and proactively drive appropriate resolution and escalation.
  • Manage workforce capacity, resource allocation, skills development, succession planning, and organizational readiness.
  • Develop team capability through coaching, performance management, career development, mentoring, and targeted skill development.
  • Establish and monitor relevant operational and business metrics to evaluate performance, identify trends, and drive improvements.
  • Lead through change and ambiguity, helping the organization adapt to evolving customer needs, technologies, processes, and business priorities.
  • Promote consistent execution while identifying opportunities to simplify processes, improve productivity, and increase organizational effectiveness.
  • Represent the organization effectively with senior leaders, customers, and cross-functional partners.

Leadership Expectations

The ideal candidate is a leader of experts rather than an expert who happens to manage people.

This individual should be comfortable leading professionals whose technical or functional expertise may exceed their own in specific areas. Success requires the ability to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, facilitate sound decisions, remove barriers, and ensure the organization has the expertise required to deliver successful outcomes.

The manager should demonstrate:

  • Strong people leadership and talent-development capability.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to connect execution to broader business objectives.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making in complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • The ability to influence across organizational boundaries without relying solely on direct authority.
  • A customer-focused mindset balanced with sound business judgment.
  • The ability to establish credibility with highly skilled technical, project management, and business professionals.
  • Strong change-management and organizational leadership capabilities.

Required Qualifications

Education: Four-year or Graduate Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

  • Leading teams in a customer-facing, services, consulting, project delivery, technology, or similar professional environment.
  • Leading, coach and develop experienced professionals.
  • Business operations, customer delivery, financial considerations, and organizational performance.

Required Skills

  • Manage multiple priorities and make effective decisions in complex, fast-changing environments.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, negotiation, and executive presence.
  • Experience working across multiple functions and organizational levels.
  • Ability to understand technical, operational, or project-related concepts sufficiently to provide leadership, evaluate risk, and support effective decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading technical consultants, project managers, program managers, solution delivery professionals, or similar teams.
  • Experience in a large, matrixed, global organization.
  • Experience supporting complex enterprise customers and/or managed services environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational transformation, process improvement, or significant business change.

Measures of Success

Success in this position will be demonstrated through:

  • Strong team engagement, development, and retention.
  • Consistent delivery against customer and business commitments.
  • Effective resource and capacity management.
  • Proactive identification and management of business and delivery risks.
