Position Summary:
As a Senior Machinist, you will produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. Work from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions, may make tool adjustments as necessary. Check and inspect machining operations against specified tolerances, including maintaining quality and safety standards. May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.
Essential Functions:
Maintains organization, cleanliness, and housekeeping within the work area and reports any maintenance issues encountered
Handles new parts from print to finished product
Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications using various measuring tools such as: CMMs, calipers, micrometers, comparators, and vision systems
Reviews blueprints, process drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensional conformance to quality requirements; identifies and corrects discrepancies accordingly
Contributes to lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement
Participates in developing advanced manufacturing processes by establishing best practices to ensure the highest quality and output of the machine
Confers with engineers, production, quality, programmer personnel, or others to resolve complex machining problems
Provides training and guidance to other team members
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints with GD&T
Ability to calculate and set controls to optimize machining parameters such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control data
Possesses advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Capability of setting up complex CNC machines, and making modifications and/or recommendations to process development team
Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
Typically requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience
Requires High school diploma or GED
