Sobre este puesto de Software Engineer, Home Design Experience en Higharc
About Us
Higharc is a VC-backed startup that is changing how new homes are designed and built. Join a founding team who’ve shipped products for Autodesk, Electronic Arts, Nike, and Apple. We have raised over $175M with support from top-notch venture capital firms and more than 18 strategic investors: industry leaders in construction, building products manufacturing, and distribution.
Higharc is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical architecture and delivery of our Home Design Experience application, a browser-based 3D tool that lets anyone design a home. You’ll report to the VP of Engineering and serve as the primary technical partner to the team’s product/UX lead.
As the HDE team’s most experienced engineer, you’ll make consequential technical decisions, write production code, and help other engineers deliver. Your immediate focus will be getting the application into customers’ hands. Along the way, you’ll partner with our platform team to establish shared foundations and patterns that other Higharc applications can reuse.
What You'll Do
You’ll need to move fast, make good calls under ambiguity, and turn rough product ideas into working software that customers can pick up and use without a manual. You'll work across the primary UI as well as AI-supported and agentic experiences, and you'll partner with the other staff-level engineers at Higharc to give the company's technical strategy real shape.
Expect to:
Rapidly prototype new home design workflows and turn the ones that land into customer-ready software
Lead development of interactive 3D home design workflows, connecting the application UI, design data, and real-time 3D scene into a responsive experience. Build AI-supported and agentic interactions that help users design their homes.
Own application architecture and technical delivery from early prototypes through production. Make decisions across the frontend, application state, and service integration, including performance, reliability, and testing.
Be an independent technical partner to the product/UX lead: challenge assumptions, identify risks early, propose alternatives, and help decide what to build next.
Turn ambiguous goals into concrete implementation plans, resolve technical unknowns through working code, and implement the critical pieces yourself to keep delivery moving.
Partner with the platform team to use and improve shared application foundations. Identify which patterns should be reused across Higharc and help implement and document them, keeping immediate product delivery central to those decisions.
Help less experienced engineers take ownership through pairing, code review, and clear technical guidance. Establish patterns they can confidently extend.
About You
You've shipped products that solve genuinely hard problems in a way that feels effortless to the end user, and you know how much unglamorous work sits behind that kind of simplicity. You're comfortable being the most senior engineer in the room without needing everything decided before you start building, and you know how to narrow scope, ship useful increments, and make technical decisions that support continued delivery.
You have:
A track record of personally architecting, building, and shipping substantial web applications, with responsibility for technical decisions from initial implementation through production use.
Deep hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and modern web application architecture, including application state, API integration, performance, and maintainability.
A strong plus: hands-on experience with Three.js and browser-based 3D applications, especially design or CAD tools. You’ll be helping people design homes in 3D, so experience making complex spatial interactions intuitive is particularly valuable.
Genuine enthusiasm for AI-forward development and for building AI-supported or agentic product experiences
Experience making technical decisions independently in partnership with a product or design lead. You can explain tradeoffs, challenge a proposed approach constructively, and commit to a path forward.
Sound judgment about what to build for the immediate product and what to generalize for reuse, with experience collaborating across application and platform teams.
Experience helping less experienced engineers deliver through implementation, mentoring, and technical guidance.
A growth mindset and real ease with ambiguity, on a team and product area that's still being defined
Strong instincts for design and craft, even though you're not the designer on the team
Working at Higharc
Remote work and travel: Our company is entirely remote, and has been since we were founded in 2018. Remote work means more time with family, less time commuting, and the flexibility to blend work and life. We value in-person collaboration and asynchronous deep-work time, which is why we schedule regular team meet-ups in our hubs across the US and, depending on the role, prioritize hiring in those hubs. If your role requires frequent travel beyond pre-scheduled team meet ups, we will represent that to the best of our ability as early as possible in the interview process.
Compensation and benefits: Higharc offers competitive salaries with significant equity, in a fast-growing, well-funded company. We provide comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with flexible PTO, and meaningful maternity/paternity leave to all U.S based employees that are full-time. You'll also have access to other big-company benefits such like short and long-term disability plans and a 401K. We also provide a stipend to create the ideal home office and support ongoing L&D.
Please note: we are seeing an uptick of fraudulent recruiting activity claiming to be associated with Higharc. All communication and outreach from our in-house team will come from an @higharc.com email address.
