Job Description

The Software Engineer II develops, tests, and maintains software capabilities for MMS Software Solutions, BD's next-generation medication management platform. Working within a cross-functional Agile team, this engineer contributes to cloud-connected applications, APIs, device integrations, and platform services while ensuring solutions meet quality, cybersecurity, reliability, and regulatory requirements. The role delivers features and enhancements under the guidance of senior engineers while building expertise in cloud-native architectures, secure software development, and regulated healthcare systems.

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop new software functionality using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, TypeScript, SQL, and REST-based APIs. 

• Implement application, service, and integration features for MMS Software Solutions products and shared platform services. 

• Create unit, integration, and automated tests to support software quality goals. 

• Participate in Agile and SAFe ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, PI Planning, demonstrations, and retrospectives. 

• Troubleshoot software defects and participate in root-cause investigations. 

• Follow established engineering standards, coding guidelines, cybersecurity controls, and architecture patterns. 

• Maintain software documentation, requirements traceability, design artifacts, and test evidence required for regulated software development. 

• Collaborate with product management, quality engineering, systems engineering, cybersecurity, DevOps, UX, and other engineering teams. 

Required Technical Skills 

• Programming: Advanced proficiency in C#/.NET  • Java • SQL • JavaScript / TypeScript 
• Frameworks & APIs: Angular • REST APIs • OpenAPI / Swagger • JSON 
• Cloud: AWS fundamentals • cloud-native concepts • containers • microservices fundamentals 
• DevOps & SDLC: Git • Azure DevOps Boards and Pipelines • CI/CD • JUnit • automated testing • IntelliJ or Visual Studio Code 
• Security & compliance: secure coding • Fortify • Snyk • Mend • design-controls awareness • requirements traceability 

Minimum Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, with a minimum of 1-4 years relevant experience in software development Experience developing commercial or enterprise software using modern development tools. 

• Working knowledge of object-oriented design, APIs, source control, automated testing, and software-development lifecycle practices. 

• Ability to troubleshoot software using logs, debugging tools, and structured problem-solving methods. 

• Ability to communicate effectively within a cross-functional, geographically distributed team. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience developing cloud-connected SaaS products. 

• Exposure to healthcare or medical-device software. 

• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes. 

• Knowledge of HL7, FHIR, or healthcare integrations. 

• Familiarity with connected-device or medication-management systems.
