Role overview
The International team is seeking a talented and driven Software Engineer II to join CarGurus' first engineering team in Ireland and work on exciting product initiatives for our Canadian and UK markets. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the full software development lifecycle – across both the frontend and backend – collaborating with Engineering and Product peers to design innovative solutions and tackle complex challenges for our dealer-facing products.
We are looking for candidates who are able to learn and adapt quickly, and collaborate with other engineers to deliver solutions. Some examples of potential project opportunities:
- Building new, full-stack features for dealer products from the ground up
- Integrating with existing services and expanding functionality using React, TypeScript, and Java
- Implementing integrations with third-party APIs and partners
As an engineer on this team, you will work closely with other engineers and product partners to deliver impactful solutions for the international business. No need to be a car expert—we’re more interested in your passion for engineering and your ability to innovate!
What you'll do
- Help establish and grow CarGurus' Dublin engineering presence by contributing to team culture, practices, and standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers across the organization to understand and solve new product requirements and tackle technical challenges.
- Work with Java, Spring Boot, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, AWS, and other modern technologies to build consumer and dealer products.
- Collaborate on system design and write well-crafted code to help evolve our service-oriented architecture.
- Be deeply engaged in the full development lifecycle: designing, developing, testing, automated testing, deploying, maintaining, monitoring, and alerting.
What you'll bring
- 2-5 years of hands-on software development experience in a professional setting.
- Experience building full-stack applications with frameworks similar to Spring Boot, NextJS, Express, ASP.NET, Django, or Rails.
- Ability to write clean, well-tested, and efficient code that passes through code review with minimal comments. Additionally, you will engage with code reviews by giving and receiving feedback to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- The ability to iterate and ship ideas quickly and independently.
- Self-led and motivated to proactively find answers and resolve blockers.
- Experience leveraging AI tools.
- Bonus: Experience using AWS services and knowledge of microservice architectures.
The displayed range represents the expected annual base salary / On-Target Earnings (OTE) for this position. On-Target Earnings (OTE) is inclusive of base salary and on-target commission earnings, which applies exclusively to sales roles.
Individual pay within this range is determined by work location and other factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
This annual base salary forms part of a comprehensive Total Rewards Package. In addition to benefits, this role may qualify for discretionary bonuses/incentives and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
