Job Role: SEO Lead

Compensation range: $2,300 - $2,500 AUD/month

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Role Overview: We’re looking for a highly capable SEO Lead to drive strategy and execution across a portfolio of premium clients. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical SEO expertise with excellent communication skills, commercial thinking, and a refined understanding of premium brand expectations.

You’ll lead day-to-day SEO performance, develop AI-informed content strategies, oversee technical optimisation, and collaborate closely with content, development, and client teams to deliver measurable growth.

You’ll also help manage a small remote SEO team, ensuring workflows, communication, and delivery standards remain exceptional across all accounts.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Lead 5- 6 brands in SEO strategy across multiple fashion, beauty, luxury, and hospitality clients
• Conduct and oversee technical SEO audits, optimisation plans, and keyword strategies
• Develop AI-informed content strategies and SEO briefs aligned with brand tone and cultural trends
• Monitor and improve organic search performance across all client accounts
• Manage and mentor a small remote team of SEO specialists and freelancers
• Collaborate with developers, UX teams, and content creators to implement SEO best practices
• Produce clear, insightful client reporting and communicate opportunities for growth
• Stay at the forefront of SEO innovation, including AI search, Google SGE, semantic SEO, and algorithm changes
• Act as a trusted point of contact for clients on SEO strategy and performance matters
• Maintain high standards of workflow management, communication, and project ownership in a remote environment

Requirements

• 5+ years of SEO experience, ideally within an agency or multi-brand environment
• At least 2 years in a leadership or client-facing role
• Strong technical SEO capability and deep understanding of modern search best practices
• Proven experience managing SEO strategy for premium, lifestyle, retail, or eCommerce brands
• Hands-on experience with tools such as:
• GA4
• Google Search Console
• Ahrefs / SEMrush
• Screaming Frog
• SurferSEO
• ChatGPT and AI SEO tools
• Strong understanding of content optimisation and semantic search strategies
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to connect SEO activity to business outcomes
• High attention to detail, organisation, and independent time management
• Comfortable working remotely with Australian clients and teams

Bonus Points:

• Experience with Shopify or headless CMS platforms
• International SEO experience
• Editorial, publishing, or branded content background
• Experience working with fashion, beauty, hospitality, or luxury brands
• Familiarity with AI search optimisation and emerging SEO technologies
• Experience mentoring or leading remote teams
