Talbot is an international insurer and reinsurer operating within the Lloyd’s market through Syndicates 1183 and 2019. We have been part of AIG since 2018 and our ambition is to be AIG’s Centre of Excellence at Lloyd’s.  Headquartered in London, Talbot has offices in New York and Singapore and over 300 people working across these three locations.

Syndicate 1183 underwrites multiple classes of business including Political Violence/Terrorism, Marine, Energy (off-shore and on-shore), Marine and Energy Liability, Hull, Cargo and Specie, Political Risk, Property, Accident and Health, Financial Lines, Cyber, Alternative Risks, Non-Physical Cyber and Treaty Reinsurance.

Syndicate 2019 reinsures premium written by AIG’s Private Client Group, covering Homeowners, Auto, General Specie and other products.

AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. How you will create an impact

• Underwrite and develop a growing portfolio across standalone terrorism, multinational accounts, malicious assailant/active shooter and war perils.
• Play a key role in growing the product within Talbot/AIG, identifying new markets, distribution opportunities and areas for profitable expansion.
• Spend approximately 50% of the role traveling, meeting brokers and clients across key markets and developing new business opportunities.
• Be highly visible and proactive in the market, building new relationships, strengthening existing partnerships and originating and converting new business.
• Work across multinational and complex accounts, bringing a solutions-oriented approach to structuring coverage for clients with diverse exposures.
• Combine strong technical underwriting with a commercial mindset when evaluating terrorism, malicious assailant, war and related political violence/security exposures.
• Work collaboratively across Talbot and AIG, using the capabilities, relationships and global reach of both organizations to develop opportunities and grow the portfolio.
• Represent Talbot/AIG at broker and client meetings, market events and industry conferences.
• Build strong connectivity with the London market and international colleagues, including travel where appropriate, to support multinational opportunities and product development.
• Bring the energy, confidence and entrepreneurial mindset to help build and shape a growth business, rather than simply manage an existing portfolio.

What you'll need to succeed

• Detailed knowledge of Political Violence products
• Bachelors Degree preferred
• Possesses demonstrated technical knowledge and skills, including product and industry
• Advanced analytical, negotiation and sales/marketing skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to develop and understand business processes, strategy and planning
• Ability to build and maintain insured and broker relationships

For positions based in New York, the base salary range is $146,000-$178,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.   A summary of benefits  can be viewed here: US Benefits Overview
