The Lead Software Developer / Software Architect Senior Specialist is responsible for defining and delivering end-to-end technology solutions aligned with business objectives, enterprise architecture standards, and engineering best practices.

This is a hands-on technical architecture role requiring strong, current expertise in Microsoft .NET and C# technologies. The Architect is expected to actively engage with engineering teams on a day-to-day basis, including solution design, code and design reviews, technical problem-solving, prototyping, and implementation guidance.

The Architect partners closely with Product, Business, Engineering, DevOps, and Shared Services teams to establish architectural direction, translate business requirements into scalable solutions, and ensure successful delivery of complex technology initiatives.

Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Define and deliver end-to-end architecture across applications, integrations, data, APIs, and cloud platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives and enterprise standards.
  • Develop high-level and detailed solution designs covering functional and non-functional requirements, including security, scalability, reliability, performance, maintainability, and operational resilience.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership in .NET and C#, working directly with engineering teams on solution implementation, technical challenges, code/design reviews, proof-of-concepts, and engineering best practices.
  • Establish and promote architecture principles, reusable patterns, standards, frameworks, and engineering best practices.
  • Lead architecture and design reviews and provide clear technical direction for complex engineering decisions and challenges.
  • Design scalable APIs, microservices, service interfaces, integration frameworks, and data flows supporting reliable communication across distributed systems.
  • Drive application modernization and cloud transformation initiatives, including cloud-native and distributed application architectures using Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
  • Partner with DevOps and engineering teams to enable CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, containerization, automation, monitoring, logging, and observability.
  • Provide architectural guidance for solutions leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and Microsoft Service Fabric, where applicable.
  • Ensure solutions meet organizational requirements for security, governance, regulatory compliance, business continuity, disaster recovery, and operational resilience.
  • Conduct architecture assessments to identify technical debt, dependencies, scalability concerns, implementation risks, and appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Engineering, Shared Services, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions.
  • Present architecture strategies, recommendations, trade-offs, and technical considerations clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Support technical planning, estimation, dependency management, and implementation sequencing to improve predictability and successful delivery.
  • Champion technical excellence, maintainability, cost-effectiveness, reuse, and long-term sustainability across solution designs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience in solution architecture, software architecture, or senior engineering leadership within complex enterprise technology environments.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale applications and end-to-end technology solutions.
  • Strong hands-on development experience with Microsoft .NET and C# is mandatory.
  • Current practical knowledge of the Microsoft technology ecosystem, particularly .NET-based enterprise application development.
  • Ability to remain technically hands-on on a day-to-day basis, including reviewing code, troubleshooting complex technical issues, validating designs, developing prototypes, and providing implementation-level guidance.
  • Strong understanding of modern software architecture, including microservices, REST APIs, distributed systems, integrations, asynchronous processing, and data architecture.
  • Experience designing cloud and cloud-native solutions using Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
  • Experience with DevOps engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, automated testing, deployment automation, monitoring, and observability.
  • Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of security architecture, performance, scalability, reliability, high availability, resiliency, and disaster recovery.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to move from architectural concepts into implementation-level technical decisions.

Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Service Fabric and distributed applications built using Service Fabric is highly desirable.
  • Experience modernizing legacy or monolithic .NET applications into modern service-based or cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience defining reusable application frameworks, service interfaces, API standards, and integration patterns.
  • Experience working across architecture, engineering, DevOps, infrastructure, security, and Shared Services organizations.
