Sobre este puesto de Senior Principal - Product Owner - EUC/MDM en GSK
Business Introduction
GSK remains committed to achieving bold commercial ambitions for the future. By 2031, we aim to deliver £40 billion in annual sales, leveraging our existing strong performance momentum to significantly increase our positive impact on the health of billions of patients globally. Our Ahead Together strategy is centred on early intervention to prevent and alter the course of disease, thereby protecting people and supporting healthcare systems.
Our diverse portfolio consists of vaccines, specialty medicines, and general medicines.
Through continuous innovation and a dedicated focus on scientific and technical excellence, we strive to develop and launch new, groundbreaking treatments that address critical health challenges.
Job Purpose
Own the product for how 50,000+ employees across [X] countries get, use and are supported on their devices — with particular depth on the mobile estate: iOS and Android, corporate-owned and BYOD, standard knowledge-worker devices and the field, clinical, lab and manufacturing devices that behave nothing like them.
This is a product role, not a project role. The Senior Product Owner owns the vision, the backlog and the outcomes — deciding what gets built and why, in what order, and being accountable for whether it actually improved anything. Success is measured in adoption, effort saved and experience improved, not in tickets closed or features shipped.
The role sits between three constituencies that rarely agree: employees who want their devices to just work, Security who want them locked down, and Finance who want them cheaper. Turning that tension into a prioritised, defensible backlog is the core of the job.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and articulate the product vision for end user services and mobile device management — a clear statement of what the service will be in 18 months and why that matters to the business.
- Maintain a rolling roadmap that balances new capability, technical debt, security and compliance obligations, and experience improvement; keep it honest about capacity.
- Translate the EUC strategy and architecture direction into a sequenced, deliverable product backlog.
- Own the business case and benefits realisation for product investment; be accountable for the value claimed, not just the spend approved.
- Own, refine and prioritise the product backlog as the single source of truth for the squad; make prioritisation calls transparently and defend them.
- Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria that engineers can build from and testers can verify — specific about the outcome, not prescriptive about the solution.
- Lead sprint planning, refinement, review and retrospective alongside the Scrum Master; accept or reject work against acceptance criteria.
- Manage dependencies across adjacent squads — identity, security, networking, service management — and escalate early when they threaten delivery.
- Own the release and change approach for user-visible change, including pilot rings, communications and rollback triggers.
- Be the voice of the employee in every prioritisation conversation, and hold the evidence to back it: research, telemetry, ticket analysis and direct observation.
- Run continuous discovery — user interviews, shadowing in the field and on the shop floor, surveys, usability testing — with the populations who are least like head office.
- Convert digital experience (DEX) telemetry and service desk data into prioritised, root-cause-addressing backlog items; treat every recurring ticket category as a product defect until proven otherwise.
- Own adoption: define what good adoption looks like before launch, measure it after, and act when it does not materialise.
- Own the product for the mobile estate: enrolment and provisioning experience, BYOD vs. corporate-owned models, app catalogue and distribution, and the employee-facing side of mobile security policy.
- Own the BYOD proposition end to end — the privacy commitment, the employee terms, the enrolment journey and the trust that makes people willing to participate.
- Manage the mobile OS release cycle as a recurring product event: annual iOS and Android major releases, beta assessment, compatibility validation and controlled rollout.
- Own the product relationship with mobile carriers, MDM platform vendors and app suppliers.
- Build and maintain relationships across business units, regions and functions; run a stakeholder forum or product council that makes trade-offs visible rather than fought in private.
- Partner with Cyber Security to land control changes in ways employees will accept and comply with — security outcomes delivered through good product design rather than mandate.
- Engage works councils, employee representatives and Privacy where mobile telemetry, BYOD or device monitoring is in scope.
- Report on product performance to senior stakeholders in outcome terms.
Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent demonstrable professional experience.
- Product ownership certifications desirable (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe POPM, Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), ITIL v4 Foundation, Microsoft Endpoint Administrator Associate).
Area of Specialisation
- Product ownership at scale for end user services and mobile device management, with direct working familiarity with an enterprise MDM/UEM platform (e.g., Microsoft Intune).
- Mobile estate strategy across iOS and Android, corporate-owned and BYOD, standard knowledge-worker devices and specialised field, clinical, lab and manufacturing devices.
- Digital employee experience (DEX) and service-desk-driven product improvement, using telemetry and ticket analysis to prioritise root-cause fixes.
Related Experience Required
- Overall 15 years and 12+ years in technology delivery, including 5+ years as a Product Owner or Product Manager with genuine backlog authority (not a business analyst writing another team's requirements).
- Product or service ownership serving 10,000+ users across multiple countries.
- Demonstrable hands-on product experience in end user computing, digital workplace or mobile device management — including direct familiarity with an enterprise MDM/UEM platform.
- Sustained experience owning a backlog for a cross-functional agile squad, through multiple release cycles, in a scaled delivery environment.
- Track record of using user research and quantitative telemetry to drive prioritisation, with a specific example of a decision the data changed.
- A demonstrable product outcome delivered and measured — adoption, experience, effort or cost — not merely a feature shipped.
- Proven ability to manage senior and conflicting stakeholders across business units and regions, and to hold a prioritisation decision under pressure.
- Fluent English; credible with both engineers and executives in a global matrixed organisation.
- Willingness to travel internationally, approximately [10–15]% of the time — including to sites, labs and field locations where the devices are actually used.
- Desirable:
- Experience in a regulated industry — pharmaceutical, life sciences, biotech, financial services or healthcare — including GxP-validated systems and the change control that comes with them.
- Product ownership for specialised or frontline mobile devices: rugged handhelds, lab and clinical devices, field-force tablets, shared/kiosk devices, scanners and shop-floor endpoints.
- Experience with deskless and frontline worker populations — employees without a corporate laptop, whose primary device is shared or personal.
- Works council and employee-representation engagement, particularly on BYOD, mobile telemetry and device monitoring.
- Mobile app product experience — internal app store curation, in-house mobile app lifecycle, MAM policy design.
- Experience delivering a major platform migration or transition as a product owner — MDM platform change, MSP transition, or BYOD programme launch.
- Service design or UX research background; journey mapping and service blueprinting.
- Carrier and telecom management — mobile contracts, eSIM, international roaming, expense management.
- AI-enabled workplace tooling product experience — Copilot, virtual agents, AI-assisted support deflection.
- Accessibility and assistive technology as a designed-in part of the device proposition.
- Sustainability — device longevity, refurbishment and circular IT built into the product roadmap.
Skills/Background
- Deep product craft across backlog ownership, outcome-based requirements, continuous discovery, and value definition and measurement.
- Endpoint management platform fluency (Microsoft Intune or comparable MDM/UEM tooling) — enough to have credible conversations with engineers and challenge estimates.
- Understanding of endpoint security fundamentals — conditional access, compliance policy, encryption — and the trade-offs each imposes on the user.
- Fluency in agile delivery tooling (Azure DevOps, Jira, ServiceNow) — able to run a backlog others can actually read.
- Influence without authority — landing decisions across engineering, security, service delivery, regions and vendors through evidence and relationship.
- Communication — equally credible in a sprint refinement and in a steering committee; able to translate technical constraint into business consequence.
- Comfort with conflict — the role exists at the intersection of security, cost and experience, and someone is always disappointed.
- Bias to evidence — willing to change position when the data contradicts a strongly held view, including their own.
