What will you do?

You will help us maintain and improve NIBC's centralized Cloud Data Platform. This role will position you as an enabler of several business-oriented teams within the Data and Analytics department. You will onboard all core data of NIBC, ensure a stable and secure platform while implementing (new) functionality to further accelerate development by the business spokes. Furthermore, you and the team of data and platform engineers will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the platform, ensuring it runs as smoothly as possible. You will focus on automating repetitive tasks and addressing failing pipelines at the root cause.

Since NIBC Bank is merging with ABN AMRO, you will shape the technical decisions to integrate data streams with ABN AMRO systems and data platforms. Because of the upcoming legal merger and IT integration, data flows will change significantly, while the business and regulatory reporting require stable, trusted data reports.

As a strong senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our platform infrastructure, written in Terraform and deployed through Azure pipelines. You will deploy solutions in Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, DBT and Azure Function Apps(Python). You understand the importance of continuous improvement with regard to security and adherence to the high standards of the financial industry. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of our systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Azure and platform maintenance. Experience with Terraform, ADLS, Azure Data Factory, DBT, Databricks, CI/CD, cloud security and cloud networking is a pre. Key Responsibilities:

• Improve the platform: Continuously improve the way we operate the platform, enabling further scalability and reducing maintenance costs and compute costs;
• Implementation: Implement solutions directly within the Cloud Platform, ensuring they meet business needs and technical standards;
• Solution design: Provides solution designs/software engineering. Understand that an IT migration comes with many puzzle pieces, for which both deep technical knowledge and understanding of the business requirements and timelines are essential.
• Data Quality Assurance: Ensure high data quality by building robust solutions, conducting thorough testing, and maintaining documentation;
• Collaboration: Work closely with the business domain, IT experts, and your own colleagues of the Data & Analytics department;
• Compliance: Adhere compliance to IT security standards and best practices
• Documentation: Maintain documentation of ingestion patterns and architectural decisions. Furthermore, wiki is our guidance!;
• Continuous learning and development: You have a passion for what you do, so you use your development budget to develop your hard and soft skills. You are up to date with industry trends and best practices in data ingestion, emerging technologies and building a secure platform.

Your team

We created the Data & Analytics department to enable our business to deliver high-quality data products using a modern cloud data platform. The mission of this technology driven department is to ensure that data can be sourced, ingested, integrated, and consumed through well designed, automated, and simple to use services and frameworks. The platform team is pivotal in this effort, being responsible for a stable platform and enabling the business-oriented spokes to deliver value. We run the maintenance of the platform and enable new interfaces e.g., scraping, and manual files uploads.

What do you bring?

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field from a recognized university;
• Experience: 10+ years of work experience as a Platform/Data Engineer or as a Software Engineer in a data environment;
• Analytical mindset;
• Craftsmanship for your role;
• Strong market knowledge of Data & AI tooling;
• Knowledge of CI/CD, Azure, Terraform, Python, Databricks, DBT and Azure Data Factory;
• At least 5 years of work experience with Cloud & Data Platforms: Strong familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud), Power BI, data lakes, and modern data architectures;
• Experience with working in a Scrum/Agile environment;
• Communication: Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, able to bridge the gap between technical and business teams, and alignment with the enterprise architect;
• Experience with risk or banking-specific regulations is an advantage.
