Remix Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company pioneering a new class of small-molecule medicines that modulate RNA processing to address the underlying drivers of disease. Our lead clinical program, REM-422, targets the RNA splicing machinery and is currently being evaluated in adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC), a rare salivary gland cancer, as well as acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and higher-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (HR-MDS).

Position Summary:

Remix is seeking a Vice President, Clinical Development to provide medical and clinical leadership for REM-422 and contribute to the development of future programs across the portfolio.

Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer and based at our Watertown, MA headquarters, this individual will play a central role in clinical strategy, trial execution, medical monitoring, and interpretation of emerging clinical and translational data. The role offers significant visibility to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence key development decisions at an important point in the company's growth.

This is a highly hands-on leadership position within a small, experienced, and collaborative organization. They will work closely with Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, Pharmacovigilance, Translational Medicine, external investigators, and key opinion leaders to drive the clinical development of REM-422.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Development Strategy & Leadership

  • Provide medical and scientific leadership for REM-422 clinical development, contributing to overall program strategy, indication prioritization, clinical development plans, and key development decisions.
  • Translate evolving clinical and translational findings into clear recommendations for the CMO, senior leadership, and cross-functional program teams.
  • Contribute to protocol strategy and trial design, including patient population, dose and schedule, endpoints, biomarker strategy, and benefit-risk considerations.
  • Provide clinical and scientific input to broader portfolio and pipeline discussions as appropriate.
  • Author and review clinical development documents, including protocols and protocol amendments, investigator brochures, informed consent forms, clinical study reports, safety narratives, and other key clinical documents.

Clinical Trial Execution & Medical Monitoring

  • Provide ongoing medical oversight of clinical trials, including review of safety data, laboratory findings, adverse events, dose modifications, protocol deviations, and emerging clinical trends.
  • Participate in ongoing safety reviews, dose-escalation and cohort-review meetings, and other clinical governance activities.
  • Partner with Clinical Operations to support site selection, site engagement, patient recruitment, enrollment strategy, and overall study execution.

Clinical Data Interpretation & Communication

  • Lead or contribute to integrated review of clinical data, including safety, efficacy, PK/PD, pharmacodynamic, and biomarker datasets.
  • Work closely with Biostatistics, Data Management, Translational Medicine, and Clinical Operations to ensure timely and rigorous review of emerging data.
  • Contribute to data presentations for investigators, advisory boards, scientific congresses, executive leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Support abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and other scientific communications related to clinical programs.

Qualifications:

Required 

  • MD or equivalent medical degree.
  • Fellowship training in hematology/oncology, medical oncology, or a closely related oncology specialty.
  • Approximately 5+ years of clinical development experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry; exceptional candidates with somewhat less experience but significant relevant responsibility may also be considered.
  • Meaningful hands-on experience as a medical monitor or clinical study physician in oncology development.
  • Demonstrated experience with the design, conduct, and interpretation of oncology clinical trials, particularly early-stage clinical development.
  • Experience reviewing serious adverse events, clinical safety data, eligibility questions, protocol deviations, and other medical-monitoring activities.
  • Strong understanding of oncology drug development, including dose escalation, dose optimization, response assessment, safety evaluation, and benefit-risk assessment.
  • Working knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines and FDA regulatory requirements.
  • Strong scientific and clinical judgment, with the ability to engage deeply with translational science, pharmacology, biomarkers, and mechanism-of-action data.
  • Ability to integrate complex and evolving clinical datasets and translate them into clear, actionable development recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience authoring or reviewing protocols, regulatory documents, safety narratives, and other clinical-development materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, and fast-paced biotechnology environment.

Preferred 

  • Experience developing therapies for rare solid tumors, adenoid cystic carcinoma, or head and neck cancers.
  • Experience in hematologic malignancies, particularly AML and/or MDS.
  • Experience with molecularly defined, biomarker-driven, or genomically selected patient populations.
  • Experience with first-in-human, dose-escalation, and proof-of-concept oncology studies.
  • Exposure to later-stage development, registrational strategy, or regulatory interactions supporting advancement toward registration.

Salary Range:

$293,000 - $358,000 USD 

This range reflects the expected base salary for this position, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable.  Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.
