About the role:

We're looking for a Senior Manager, R&D Engineering to lead our Denmark-based Infusion Care R&D team and play a key role in driving product innovation, lifecycle management, and new product introduction across a global organization.

This is a newly created leadership role offering the opportunity to influence both team development and technical outcomes. You'll lead a talented team of engineers while working closely with colleagues across Denmark, Slovakia, Mexico, and the UK to deliver innovative solutions that support patients and healthcare professionals worldwide.

Your key duties and responsibilities:

As Senior Manager, R&D Engineering, you'll provide leadership, direction, and technical guidance to a team of approximately 7-8 R&D professionals supporting Convatec's Infusion Care portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading, developing, and coaching a high-performing R&D team.
• Setting priorities and ensuring projects and technical activities progress against agreed timelines.
• Driving lifecycle management, technical product improvements, and new product introduction activities.
• Creating an environment of open communication, accountability, and effective decision-making.
• Partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to bring products and process improvements from concept through implementation.
• Providing technical leadership and contributing to discussions involving product design, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering solutions.
• Collaborating with global teams across R&D, manufacturing, quality, and operations.
• Building strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and customers when required.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance team effectiveness, product quality, and business performance.
• Managing project execution, resource allocation, and development activities while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and quality requirements.

Skills & Experience:

We're seeking a people-focused leader who can successfully guide a technically skilled team while maintaining strong delivery, collaboration, and business alignment.

You bring:

• At least 5 years of people leadership experience within an engineering, R&D, product development, or similar technical environment.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and managing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• A proven ability to coach and develop technical talent while driving accountability and results.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• The ability to understand technical discussions and provide direction, even if you're not the subject matter expert in every area.
• Experience working in regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or similarly demanding environments is highly valued.
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across international teams.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

• Product lifecycle management
• New product introduction (NPI)
• Technical product improvements and engineering change management
• Plastic materials and components
• Injection moulding processes
• Assembly of moulded components
• 3D modelling, CAD, 2D drawings, or SolidWorks
• Manufacturing process development within a regulated environment

Qualifications/Education:

• University, technical degree or Science degree (physic or chemistry) preferred
• Design Control in accordance with EU ISO 13485 & US 21CFR820 Quality Systems for Medical Devices preferred.

Travel Requirements:

• Position may involve travel, mostly within Europe but international travel may be expected within 10% of working hours. 
• Some trips may include overnight travel.

Working Conditions:

• This role is based in Osted, Denmark, with an expected working pattern of approximately 3-4 days per week onsite and 1-2 days per week remote.
• Work in office environment, production centers and laboratory.
