We are growing an exciting new business, and we are looking for driven individuals to join our team! We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Manager,  Legal Affairs – Supply Chain to join a fast-growing, highly innovative transportation business operating across Canada and the United States.

This is a hands-on role for a lawyer who enjoys working close to the business. You will partner with leaders across operations, procurement, technology, finance, and risk to help the organization move quickly, structure commercial relationships effectively, and navigate an evolving legal and regulatory environment.

The role will have a particular focus on commercial contracting, transportation and logistics, contractor and service-provider arrangements, and cross-border legal and regulatory matters.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide practical, business-focused legal advice on commercial, regulatory, and operational matters in transportation and logistics.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements, including transportation and carrier agreements, logistics contracts, independent contractor agreements, vendor and supplier agreements, technology agreements, service agreements, and strategic partnerships.
  • Support transportation, logistics, fleet, delivery, and related operations by advising on relevant legal and regulatory requirements in Canada and the US.
  • Partner with procurement and business teams to enable the growth of the transportation and logistics business.
  • Provide legal guidance on new products, technologies, partnerships, and operating models, helping teams find practical ways to innovate while managing legal and regulatory risk.
  • Monitor relevant legislative, regulatory, and legal developments across Canada and the United States and assess their potential impact on the business.
  • Work with internal specialists and external counsel on employment, tax, regulatory, litigation, and jurisdiction-specific matters as needed.
  • Develop scalable legal tools, including contract templates, playbooks, policies, and risk frameworks.
  • Support dispute resolution, claims, regulatory inquiries, and commercial escalations.
  • Translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable advice for senior leaders and operating teams.

What You Bring

  • A law degree and membership in good standing with a Canadian provincial law society. U.S. license is an asset.
  • Approximately 7+ years of relevant legal experience gained in a leading law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of both.
  • Strong commercial contracting experience and excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Experience advising transportation, logistics, supply chain, fleet, delivery, mobility, retail, technology, or another operationally complex business is an asset.
  • A strong understanding of legal issues related to independent contractors and alternative workforce models in Canada and the United States.
  • Experience supporting businesses across multiple Canadian provinces and U.S. states is an asset.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to assess risk in areas where business models, technology, or regulation are evolving.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with competing priorities and a high degree of ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder-management skills.

What Will Make You Successful

You are a pragmatic lawyer who understands that great legal advice should help the business move forward. You are entrepreneurial and driven to help grow an exciting and expanding business.

You are comfortable working in areas where the law, regulation, technology, and operating model may all be evolving at the same time. You know when to identify a hard legal boundary, when to escalate, and when to help the business find a practical path forward.

You can move easily between complex contract negotiations, regulatory interpretation, operational problem-solving, and strategic discussions with senior leaders. You are curious, collaborative, responsive, and comfortable working at pace.

This role offers the opportunity to help shape the legal framework around a rapidly growing transportation business and to play a meaningful role in enabling innovation across both the Canadian and U.S. markets.
