Senior Frontend Engineer

An overview of this role

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you'll solve high-scope frontend problems and influence your team's technical and product direction. You'll ship moderately sized features with minimal guidance, improve quality and performance, mentor other engineers, and help establish standards for a high-scale web environment. You'll partner across product, design, backend, and frontend to make sound trade-offs, communicate clearly, and improve how the team delivers software.

This is an opportunity to shape product experiences and frontend architecture for a global platform while helping define how modern frontend teams use agentic artificial intelligence. You'll apply artificial intelligence-assisted engineering workflows thoughtfully and help create trustworthy user experiences that incorporate artificial intelligence responsibly in a remote-first, asynchronous organization.

What you’ll do

• Design and ship moderately sized frontend features and improvements with minimal guidance, making pragmatic architectural choices.
• Turn ambiguous customer and product needs into clear technical plans and intuitive, accessible experiences.
• Advocate for product quality, security, accessibility, performance, maintainability, and operational readiness throughout the development lifecycle.
• Establish and improve practices for frontend architecture, styling, component design, testing, observability, maintainable code, and thoughtful use of artificial intelligence and agentic tools in production engineering work.
• Mentor Associate and Intermediate Engineers, share knowledge, remove technical blockers, and improve team delivery practices.
• Diagnose and prevent frontend performance and reliability issues at scale using observability and production signals, and participate in incident response or on-call responsibilities under your team's ownership model.
• Design or review independently buildable frontend surfaces and explicit contracts for data, events, authorization, feature flags, error handling, testing, and performance expectations.
• Collaborate with product, design, backend, quality, security, and other teams to deliver cohesive customer outcomes.

What you’ll bring

• Experience applying frontend architecture, browser behavior, testing, accessibility, performance, and maintainability practices in a complex product or platform environment.
• Experience designing or evolving modular frontend boundaries, independently buildable surfaces, component systems, or migration-safe architectures.
• Experience making pragmatic trade-offs with product and design partners and turning complex requirements into clear user experiences.
• The ability to lead through technical judgment, collaboration, and clear written communication rather than formal authority.
• Experience mentoring engineers and improving team practices through code review, design review, documentation, or hands-on collaboration.
• The ability to work effectively in a remote, asynchronous organization by managing priorities, creating clarity, and communicating decisions in writing.
• Practical experience integrating artificial intelligence into a feature, workflow, or engineering process, or evaluating its reliability, security, privacy, and appropriate human oversight.
• Helpful, but not required: experience with Vue, React, Angular, TypeScript, or JavaScript; PostgreSQL, Redis, or object storage; representational state transfer or GraphQL; Kubernetes, Google Kubernetes Engine, Docker, or Google Cloud Platform; Prometheus or Sentry; and Git, GitLab Runner, or GitLab continuous integration and continuous delivery.

About the team

We own core repository capabilities, from Git command-line operations to web-based code exploration. Our roadmap includes feature and platform development, improvements to existing capabilities, maintainability, accessibility, performance, and workflows for teams using AI-assisted development tools.
