Job's mission
As a Senior Engineer I, System Engineering, you will be responsible for the system-level integration, qualification, and technical readiness of ASM’s Wafer Transfer Platform. You will work across multiple engineering disciplines to ensure that newly developed systems are successfully integrated, tested, and transitioned into production.
This role requires strong hands-on engineering and troubleshooting capabilities to identify and resolve complex system-level issues while collaborating with global R&D, Manufacturing, and Product Support teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
What you will be working on
-
Own and execute system integration, testing, and qualification activities for newly developed Wafer Transfer Platform systems.
-
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex system-level issues involving mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and process interactions.
-
Plan and execute engineering tests to verify system performance, functionality, reliability, and design requirements.
-
Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Software, and Process Engineering teams to identify technical gaps and drive issues to resolution.
-
Support prototype and first-build activities, including system bring-up, configuration, debugging, and design verification.
-
Identify technical risks during development and provide system-level feedback to improve product design, reliability, maintainability, and serviceability.
-
Support the transition of newly developed systems from R&D into manufacturing and production readiness.
-
Partner with Global Product Support to resolve technical escalations and translate engineering knowledge into service procedures, troubleshooting guides, maintenance procedures, and Best Known Methods (BKMs).
-
Provide technical guidance and engineering support for field issues related to Wafer Transfer Platform systems when required.
What we are looking for
-
Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
-
Relevant professional experience in system engineering, semiconductor equipment engineering, equipment development, product engineering, or other complex electromechanical systems.
-
Hands-on experience with equipment integration, system testing, troubleshooting, qualification, or engineering validation.
-
Strong capability in structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex technical problems involving multiple engineering disciplines.
-
Good understanding of interactions between mechanical, electrical, controls, and software components at the equipment or system level.
-
Ability to independently drive technical issues from problem identification through root cause determination and resolution.
-
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with global engineering, manufacturing, and product support organizations.
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Korean and English.
-
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
What sets you apart
-
Hands-on experience with semiconductor equipment development, system integration, qualification, NPI, product engineering, or product support.
-
Experience with wafer transfer or handling systems, robotics, motion control, or automated material handling systems.
-
Knowledge of semiconductor wafer fabrication environments and semiconductor equipment architecture.
-
Experience with vacuum systems, gas delivery and control systems, plasma systems, electro-pneumatic systems, sensors, actuators, or industrial control systems.
-
Experience performing equipment bring-up, debugging, design verification, or system-level qualification during new product development.
-
Experience analyzing complex interactions between hardware, controls, and software and translating findings into engineering improvements.
-
Experience driving corrective actions based on root cause analysis, failure analysis, or engineering test results.
-
Experience working with geographically distributed R&D, Manufacturing, and Product Support organizations.
