POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Director of Identity Governance owns the enterprise-wide identity governance strategy, operating model, and control standards that align access to risk, audit, and regulatory obligations across a global healthcare enterprise. This leader connects technical identity requirements with regulatory, legal, operational, and business priorities, partnering across business, security, internal audit, and technology to reconcile governance with operational reality and transformation priorities, including M&A.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the identity governance strategy, operating model, and control standards; lead access certification, role lifecycle, and segregation-of-duties programs with clear accountability for control coverage, exception handling, and decision ownership.
• Coordinate identity requirements across SOX audits, external audits, global regulations, , and standards such as NIST.
• Own the identity governance policy and standards library and the audit and SOX ITGC evidence that proves those controls operate.
• Establish governance forums and escalation paths to resolve policy exceptions, toxic access combinations, and role design conflicts.
• Direct workflow, analytics, and reporting to surface access risk, measure control effectiveness, and prioritize remediation by exposure.
• Manage risk exceptions and compensating controls when legacy systems, acquired businesses, or operational constraints prevent immediate compliance, including distribution-center and patient medicine delivery operations.
• Lead evaluation and modernization of the identity governance platform, processes, and data quality to improve scalability, automation, and evidence integrity.
• Lead identity governance for M&A activity, managing environments where acquired technologies do not yet meet enterprise standards.
• Communicate identity risks, metrics, and compliance status to audiences ranging from end users to executives, regulators, and legal partners.
• Build and develop a team of approximately 8 to 10 employees and consultants, with potential for additional headcount as the function matures.

The strongest candidate will combine identity technology knowledge with meaningful GRC depth. A broad IAM leader or infrastructure executive without clear governance and compliance experience would not fully match this profile.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong experience in identity governance, risk, and compliance with practical cybersecurity or enterprise technology knowledge.
• Audit experience, including SOX ITGC, HiTrust, ISO, PCI, and NIST coordination and evidence management.
• Experience developing and managing policies, standards, controls, and exception processes at enterprise scale.
• Proven ability to translate regulatory obligations into actionable technical requirements.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills, with credibility across technical, business, audit, legal, and regulatory audiences.
• Experience managing identity governance in M&A contexts.
