Senior Design Verification Engineer  

About the Role  

As a Senior Design Verification Engineer at Analog Devices, you will lead verification planning and execution for next-generation automotive connectivity SoCs based on E2B technology. Working independently with minimal supervision, you will develop advanced verification environments for complex SoCs incorporating embedded microprocessors, communication subsystems, firmware, security functions, and mixed-signal components.  

You will collaborate closely with architecture, digital design, analog design, firmware, functional safety, and validation teams to ensure robust verification coverage and high-quality silicon. You will also contribute to verification methodology improvements, mentor junior engineers, and help resolve complex hardware, firmware, and system-level issues.

Key Responsibilities  

• Verification Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive verification strategies and test plans for automotive connectivity SoCs and E2B-related functionality.  

• SoC Verification: Verify complex SoCs containing embedded processors, memories, interconnects, DMA controllers, interrupts, communication interfaces, security features, and mixed-signal subsystems.  

• UVM Environment Development: Architect, develop, and maintain scalable SystemVerilog/UVM verification environments, including agents, scoreboards, reference models, sequences, assertions, and functional coverage.  

• Processor and Firmware Verification: Develop firmware-driven verification scenarios for microprocessor-based SoCs, including processor initialization, interrupts, exceptions, memory accesses, peripheral control, and hardware-software interactions.  

• C DPI Development: Develop and integrate C/SystemVerilog DPI components, software models, and reference models into simulation environments.  

• E2B Protocol Verification: Verify E2B protocol functionality, including data transfers, control and configuration mechanisms, timing behavior, error handling, diagnostics, and recovery scenarios.  

• Coverage and Verification Closure: Define and track functional coverage, code coverage, assertion coverage, test status, and verification metrics through sign-off.  

• Debug and Issue Resolution: Analyze and resolve complex issues across RTL, UVM environments, embedded software, C models, and system-level use cases.  

• Functional Safety Verification: Support verification of safety mechanisms, fault injection campaigns, requirements traceability, and verification activities associated with ISO 26262-compliant automotive products.  

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with architecture, design, firmware, functional safety, validation, and applications teams on verification planning, issue resolution, and product readiness.  

• Post-Silicon Support: Contribute to FPGA prototyping, silicon bring-up, post-silicon validation, and investigation of system or customer issues.  

• Technical Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior verification engineers and contribute to design and verification reviews.  

• Methodology and Automation: Improve verification productivity through reusable components, automation, regression infrastructure, and verification best practices.  

Must-Have Skills  

• SystemVerilog and UVM: Expert-level knowledge of SystemVerilog and the Universal Verification Methodology, with experience developing reusable verification environments for complex digital designs.  

• SoC Verification: Strong experience verifying complex SoCs that include embedded microprocessors, memories, buses, peripherals, interrupts, and communication subsystems.  

• C DPI Development: Hands-on experience developing C/SystemVerilog DPI interfaces and integrating C models or reference models into verification environments.  

• Verification Planning: Proven ability to convert architecture, design, and product requirements into detailed verification plans, test scenarios, functional coverage, and sign-off criteria.  

• Coverage-Driven Verification: Strong experience with constrained-random verification, functional coverage, code coverage, and assertion-based verification.  

• Hardware-Software Integration: Experience developing firmware-driven tests and debugging interactions between embedded software and RTL.  

• Debugging Expertise: Strong analytical and debugging skills across SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches, RTL, embedded C code, and system-level environments.  

• Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in Python, TCL, Perl, shell scripting, or similar languages for regression management, result analysis, and workflow automation.  

• Communication and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across architecture, design, firmware, functional safety, validation, and applications teams.  

• Technical Leadership: Ability to independently lead verification activities, conduct technical reviews, mentor less-experienced engineers, and influence verification methodology adoption.  

Preferred Skills  

• Experience verifying SoCs incorporating RISC-V processors. Experience with ARM or other embedded processor architectures is also valuable.  

• Understanding of processor concepts such as privilege modes, exceptions, interrupts, memory protection, caches, debug infrastructure, and firmware boot sequences.  

• Experience with automotive communication technologies, in-vehicle networking, or E2B technology.  

• Experience verifying communication protocols, packet-based interfaces, control channels, diagnostics, and error-recovery mechanisms.  

• Knowledge of automotive functional safety development and ISO 26262 verification practices.  

• Experience with fault injection, safety-mechanism verification, requirements traceability, and functional safety evidence generation.  

• Experience with emulation, FPGA prototyping, virtual platforms, or pre-silicon firmware development.  

• Knowledge of formal verification, clock-domain crossing, reset-domain crossing, low-power verification, or gate-level simulation.  

• Experience working with analog behavioral models or mixed-signal verification environments.  

• Familiarity with automotive cybersecurity concepts and secure communication mechanisms.  

• Experience with continuous integration, regression automation, and verification dashboards.  

Preferred Education and Experience  

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.  

• Master’s degree preferred.  

• 4–8 years of relevant digital or mixed-signal IC verification experience.  

• Experience verifying processor-based SoCs and delivering designs through verification closure.  

• Experience with automotive semiconductor products or communication SoCs is preferred.
