About the role
We’re on a mission to understand our customers deeply. We’re looking for a Senior Design Researcher to lead that work. You’ll drive research that helps our product and design teams make smarter, more confident decisions across MYOB’s SME and Practice segments.
This is a research-first role where your curiosity and rigour shape what gets built. You’ll design and deliver studies across the full product lifecycle, from early discovery through to solution validation, blending qualitative and quantitative methods to uncover what customers truly need. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with product managers, designers, engineers and analysts, translating complex behavioural insights into clear direction.
While research is your primary focus, you can also flex your UX and product design skills when the team needs it, helping to frame problems, shape concepts and contribute to the customer experience alongside your design partners.
You’re genuinely excited about how AI is transforming the research landscape. You’ll champion new ways of working and the responsible use of these tools within the practice, helping MYOB make faster, better-informed decisions without sacrificing the depth and rigour our customers and product teams deserve.
The skills you'll need
- Strong experience in user or design research, ideally within a product organisation
- Some experience in UX or product design. You demonstrate a strong sense for how products are built, can read user flows, provide input on design critiques, and step into design activities when the team needs it with working proficiency in Figma
- Genuine curiosity about how AI is changing the practice of research, and hands-on experience with AI-assisted tools
- Mastery of qualitative and mixed-method research, knowing when and how to apply each approach effectively
- Experience translating research findings into clear product and design decisions that teams act on
- Strong facilitation and storytelling skills, with the ability to synthesise complex evidence into compelling insights
- Comfort working across quantitative signals (analytics, experimentation and customer feedback) to build a fuller picture
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner effectively with product, design, engineering and analytics teams
- Ability to independently manage research initiatives in fast-moving product environments
- Tertiary education in UX-related field (cognitive science, psychology, anthropology, HCI or similar) is a plus
