As a Senior Data Governance Analyst, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and enhancing enterprise data governance practices for our clients, with a particular focus on banking and financial services.
You will work closely with business, technology, risk, compliance, and data teams to establish clear data ownership, improve data quality, strengthen metadata and lineage capabilities, and ensure that critical data is appropriately governed throughout its lifecycle.
The role is suited to someone who can combine strong governance knowledge with practical implementation experience and translate complex data and regulatory requirements into sustainable processes and controls.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise Data Governance frameworks, policies, standards, procedures, and operating models aligned with business objectives and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support the establishment of Data Ownership and Data Stewardship frameworks, including defining roles, responsibilities, accountability, and governance workflows across business and data domains.
- Identify and govern Critical Data Elements (CDEs), including their business definitions, ownership, quality requirements, controls, lineage, and appropriate usage.
- Define and implement Data Quality frameworks, including quality dimensions, business rules, thresholds, KPIs, scorecards, monitoring, issue identification, and remediation processes.
- Maintain and enhance enterprise data catalogs, business glossaries, metadata repositories, data dictionaries, and data lineage to improve transparency, traceability, and understanding of enterprise data.
- Support data classification and information protection initiatives, ensuring appropriate identification and handling of personal, confidential, sensitive, and regulated data.
- Work with Data Owners and Data Stewards to establish consistent enterprise data definitions and business rules across systems, reports, and analytical environments.
- Conduct Data Governance maturity assessments and gap analyses, identify areas for improvement, and develop practical roadmaps and remediation plans.
- Establish and support data issue management processes, including issue identification, root-cause analysis, ownership, remediation tracking, escalation, and closure.
- Facilitate Data Governance Councils and working groups, prepare governance dashboards and KPIs, and provide clear reporting to management and relevant committees.
- Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Information Security, Legal, Internal Audit, Technology, and business teams to address data-related regulatory, operational, security, and control requirements.
- Support compliance with relevant banking and data-management requirements and industry practices, including BCBS 239, applicable privacy and data-protection regulations, and internal risk and control frameworks.
- Work with Data Architecture, Data Engineering, BI, and Analytics teams to ensure governance requirements are incorporated into enterprise data platforms, data warehouses, data lakes/lakehouses, integrations, and analytical environments.
- Assess the readiness of enterprise data for advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI use cases, identifying gaps related to data quality, ownership, availability, metadata, lineage, privacy, and controls.
- Support the establishment of trusted and certified datasets for regulatory reporting, management reporting, analytics, digital services, and AI consumption.
- Contribute to the governance of data used by AI and machine-learning solutions, including data provenance, permitted use, quality, privacy, traceability, and accountability.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of Data Governance, Data Quality, Metadata Management, and Data Catalog technologies.
- Develop and deliver Data Governance training and awareness programs to strengthen data ownership and promote a sustainable data-driven culture across client organizations.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Data Risk, or a related discipline.
- Practical experience implementing or operating Data Governance frameworks within complex organizations.
- Experience within banking, financial services, fintech, or another highly regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of Data Governance, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, Data Classification, Critical Data Elements, Data Ownership, and Data Stewardship.
- Familiarity with industry frameworks and standards such as DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, BCBS 239, and applicable data privacy and protection requirements.
- Experience with Data Governance and metadata platforms such as Collibra, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, Alation, IBM, or equivalent solutions is an advantage.
- Understanding of modern enterprise data environments, including data warehouses, data lakes/lakehouses, cloud data platforms, BI, analytics, and AI/ML ecosystems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into practical governance processes and controls.
- Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders, including senior management, business owners, architects, engineers, risk, compliance, and audit teams.

- Relevant certifications are an advantage, including:
- DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
- DCAM or equivalent Data Management certification
- Data Governance / Data Quality certifications
- Collibra, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, Alation, or similar platform certifications
- Relevant cloud, data, risk, or privacy certifications
