As a Modelling and Research Competency Centre Senior Actuarial Advisor, you will join The Insurance Risk Management team within the Modelling and Research Competency Centre of Expertise, which develops innovative, responsible, and high-impact solutions at the forefront of data science, actuarial science, and optimization. Leveraging some of the industry's richest telematics, geospatial, climatological, and insurance datasets, the team tackles complex challenges in individual and portfolio risk modelling while collaborating with universities and technology partners to advance the quantitative approaches of tomorrow. More specifically, you will be required to:

• Analyze structured and unstructured data from a variety of sources using advanced predictive modelling techniques
• Carry out research projects for our internal partners (pricing, corporate actuarial, commercial, underwriting, innovation, etc.) in order to innovate and create value for our members and clients
• Provide expert advice on potential solutions to various issues related to the insurance industry and help position, plan, develop, execute and monitor the performance of strategic and innovative projects
• Develop new processes and improve those currently in place
• Keep up with new advancements in advanced analytics and apply them to your projects
• Effectively communicate assumptions and analysis results to our internal partners and management
• Represent actuarial services on internal decision-making committees and at meetings, and occasionally participate in external industry working groups and academic collaborations
• Serve as a strategic partner and advisor to the pricing teams, supporting them in the delivery of strategic and operational projects.

What you bring to the table

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math or statistics
• A minimum of six years of relevant property and casualty insurance experience
• Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
• Academic specialization in a quantitative field (such as a certificate, master’s degree or PhD)
• Knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec
• Advanced proficiency of English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
• Expertise in actuarial, statistical and machine learning methods, including regression, decision trees and gradient boosting.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one data analytics programming language (Python or R) and one data manipulation language (SQL or SAS)
