Join ALS Environmental – Casual Opportunity | Christchurch, NZ

ALS is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Sample Receipt / Laboratory Technician to join our Environmental team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on laboratory experience in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for receiving, processing, and preparing samples for analysis while maintaining high quality, safety, and operational standards.

About the Role

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, your key responsibilities will include:

• Receiving, registering, labelling, and logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

• Preparing sample documentation and maintaining accurate laboratory records.

• Performing basic sample preparation activities, including drying, sieving, weighing, and packaging samples.

• Ensuring samples are handled, stored, and disposed of in accordance with laboratory procedures.

• Maintaining clean, organised, and safe laboratory workspaces.

• Cleaning laboratory equipment and sample preparation areas as required.

• Assisting laboratory staff with routine operational activities.

• Following quality assurance, quality control, and workplace safety procedures at all times.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Secondary school qualifications with science subjects or relevant laboratory experience.

• A basic understanding of laboratory practices.

• Good computer literacy and accurate data entry skills.

• Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.

• The ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

• A commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
