The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Tradition Hospital sees patients with life-threatening illnesses or injuries and complex medical conditions. When providing critical care, nothing is more important than teamwork. As an RN, you will work alongside dedicated CTs, TCCs, RNs, physicians and other caregivers to ensure patients receive the best possible emergency attention and constant monitoring throughout treatment. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Provide direct nursing care. 

• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.  

• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.  

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments. 

• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  

• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 

• Educate patients and their families.   

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program) 

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)  

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross  

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross  

• One year of current critical care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience 

• Completion of a Critical Care Course or validated OJT for critical care settings 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)  

• NIH Stroke Scale Certification – if you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it
