Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in accordance with LCMC standards, policies, and procedures. Provides leadership, delegates responsibilities, and supervises staff involved in patient care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports daily department operations under the direction of the nurse manager/director.
- Serves as a clinical and operational resource while maintaining current knowledge of best practices and departmental procedures.
- Monitors nursing documentation compliance and provides staff education to meet professional, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
- Develops and manages staffing schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage, skill mix, and resource utilization based on patient acuity and department needs.
- Supervises staff, including onboarding, orientation, competency validation, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Partners with leadership in recruitment, interviewing, and selection of candidates for open positions.
- Ensures compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and orientation requirements.
- Conducts environmental, safety, and patient rounds; addresses issues and promotes patient satisfaction.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives, chart audits, core measure compliance, and performance monitoring to support organizational goals.
Experience Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of professional nursing experience in a relevant specialty area (Medical/Surgical, Critical Care, Emergency, Perioperative, or related field).
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
- Valid license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing in Louisiana.
- American Heart Association BLS-HCP.
