About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Revenue Officer to join our Private Division Revenue & Billing Team.
 

Reporting to the Revenue Manager, this role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the accurate, compliant and timely billing of private patient accounts and management of health fund receivables across the Private Division.
 

As a Revenue Officer, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting health fund claims, managing aged debt, reconciling payments, resolving billing enquiries and ensuring compliance with Health Fund contractual requirements and Medicare rules.
 

You will work closely with Health Funds, Patient Administration Services, Theatre Staff, Clinical teams and broader revenue stakeholders to ensure billing accuracy and support continuous improvement across revenue processes.

This opportunity is available across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland within SVHA's Private Division.
 

Your Key Responsibilities

As the Revenue Officer, you will:

• Produce accurate and timely patient accounts in accordance with Health Fund contract business rules and Medicare requirements.
• Ensure all claim forms, certifications and supporting documentation are completed and submitted in compliance with legislative and contractual obligations.
• Accurately enter MBS item numbers and prostheses rebate codes.
• Review theatre activity, coding and supporting documentation prior to billing.
• Follow up missing item numbers, certificates and supporting information required for claim submission.
• Act as a key point of contact for revenue-related enquiries from staff, patients and Health Funds.
• Liaise with Health Funds regarding outstanding claims, payment issues and billing queries.
• Manage aged debt and debtor balances in accordance with departmental KPIs and contractual agreements.
• Perform bank reconciliations and ensure timely receipting of payments and remittances.
• Process account adjustments and debt write-offs within approved delegations.
• Support escalation of outstanding accounts and debt collection processes as required.
• Collaborate with Doctors' rooms regarding MBS items, theatre billing requirements and certification documentation.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, billing quality enhancements and staff education.
• Contribute to standardisation of billing practices and claim documentation across the Private Division.
• Assist with ongoing compliance activities relating to healthcare legislation, health fund contractual requirements and organisational policies.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in ongoing education and training to remain current with Health Fund billing requirements and industry updates.

About You

You are a detail-oriented revenue professional with experience in healthcare billing, or revenue management.
 

You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, compliance and customer service are critical. You are confident managing competing priorities, resolving billing issues and building positive relationships with stakeholders.

You bring a collaborative approach, strong attention to detail and a commitment to supporting high-quality healthcare services through effective revenue management practices.
 

You Will Bring

• Previous experience in a Billing within a private healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated experience interpreting Health Fund contracts and applying billing rules.
• Experience using Patient Administration Systems within a healthcare environment.
• Working knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Experience managing aged debt and debt collection activities.
• Ability to prioritise work effectively and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High-level computer and administrative skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a team environment.
• A proactive, adaptable and customer-focused approach to work.

Highly Regarded

• Previous Health Fund or Hospital experience.
• Knowledge of the private health insurance industry.
• Working knowledge of Medicare billing requirements and rules.
• Understanding of relevant healthcare legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Experience working in a complex healthcare or hospital environment.
• Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
