Job Description

Bring your equipment engineering expertise and project leadership to the LEGO Group, driving custom automation solutions from initial concept and FAT/SAT validation to seamless deployment at our manufacturing sites.

Note: No relocation assistance is offered for this position.

Core Responsibilities

1. Equipment Engineering & Development

  • Contribute to the development of manufacturing equipment and automation solutions to support new products and process improvements.

  • Define equipment requirements, technical specifications, and acceptance criteria based on production and quality needs.

  • Drive equipment design reviews and risk assessments to ensure robust and reliable solutions.

  • Collaborate with equipment suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop cost-effective and scalable equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, ergonomics, corporate standards, and regulatory requirements.

2. Project Management

  • Drive equipment development projects from concept through production release.

  • Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, resource requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Coordinate activities across engineering, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and supplier teams.

  • Track project milestones and deliverables while ensuring timely escalation of risks and issues.

  • Provide clear communication and regular status updates to stakeholders and management.

3. Equipment Release & Deployment

  • Establish and manage equipment release processes to ensure readiness for manufacturing deployment.

  • Lead equipment qualification, validation, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and production buy-off activities.

  • Ensure all required documentation, operating procedures, maintenance plans, and training materials are completed prior to release.

  • Coordinate deployment activities across sites and ensure smooth manufacturing integration and stakeholder readiness prior to production ramp-up.

4. Equipment Performance Monitoring

  • Define equipment performance metrics, dashboards, and monitoring methodologies.

  • Monitor and analyze equipment effectiveness using KPIs including Yield, Throughput, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), and Cost of Ownership.

  • Analyze performance data to identify opportunities for reliability and productivity improvements.

  • Drive corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment uptime and process stability.

5. Continuous Improvement & NPI

  • Lead and carry out process and equipment development to build and qualify new elements in collaboration with NPI and R&D teams.

  • Participate in structured continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies.

  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and performance gaps.

  • Identify and implement productivity, quality, reliability, and cost reduction improvements while establishing best practices for future projects.

  • Support capacity expansion and manufacturing optimization initiatives.

6. Standardization & Governance

  • Develop and maintain global equipment engineering standards and design guidelines.

  • Drive standardization of equipment architecture, automation platforms, controls and software, safety systems, documentation formats, and validation methodologies.

  • Ensure consistency and reuse of proven equipment designs across projects and sites while maintaining engineering governance processes.

7. Change Management

  • Lead equipment-related change management activities throughout the equipment lifecycle.

  • Establish structured assessment and approval processes for equipment modifications.

  • Evaluate impacts of equipment changes on product quality, manufacturing operations, safety, maintenance, supply chain, and regulatory compliance.

  • Coordinate stakeholder reviews and approvals before implementation, ensuring all changes are properly documented, validated, and deployed.

The Equipment Engineering & Project Management Lead contributes to the end-to-end lifecycle of manufacturing equipment—from concept development and project execution through equipment release, deployment, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement. This hybrid role combines technical equipment engineering expertise with project leadership capabilities to ensure equipment solutions meet business, operational, quality, safety, and productivity requirements. The role serves as a key link between Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Equipment Suppliers, ensuring equipment is developed, standardized, deployed, and sustained effectively across manufacturing sites.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in equipment engineering, manufacturing engineering, automation, or production systems.

  • Project Management: Demonstrated experience managing complex equipment development projects.

  • Technical Breadth: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial automation systems.

  • Release Execution: Direct experience with equipment qualification, validation, FAT/SAT, and production release.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Certifications & Methodologies: Formal project management experience and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

  • Industry Focus: Background in semiconductor, electronics, medical device, automotive, or high-volume manufacturing industries.

  • Advanced Tech: Working knowledge of Industry 4.0, Industrial IoT (IIoT), and data analytics solutions.
