TEMPORARY CERTIFIED RESIDENT PROGRAM AIDE (Part-Time) – Extendicare Southwood Lakes

Qualified Activity Aides are invited to apply for the above Temporary Part-Time Resident Program Aide Position to work at Extendicare’s 150 -bed long-term care home; located in Southwood Lakes, Ontario.                                                                        

QUALIFICATIONS:

·           Successful completion of a degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, or Social Services is required.

•       Previous experience in Long Term Care setting and knowledge of working with seniors and special needs resident is an asset.
•       Ability to read and write English and to understand complicated verbal and written instructions is required.

·           Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Publisher and World Wide Web is an asset.

·           GPA training would be an asset along with empathy and patience is an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement and evaluate individual and group programs in order to meet the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of the residents.
• Assist with monthly calendar planning and creation.
• Lead large and small group programs, porterting residents, setting up for programs, clean up, and respond to family inquiries.
• Maintain documentation for resident records according to department policy including but not limited to PCC assessments, RAI/MDS, Activity Pro tracking, and other documentation as assigned.
• Active participation in committees and care conferences.
• Works together with other departments to meet resident needs.
• Participates with set up for special events and seasonal decorating.
• Attends in-service education programs when required.
• Participates in group community outings with residents twice monthly through Handi Transit
• Other duties as assigned by Resident Program Manager.

EFFECTIVE: September 3, 2026

SCHEDULED HOURS: Days, afternoons, every other weekend
