Job Title:

Researcher 3-Medical Oncology

Department:

Medicine | IM Medical Oncology

Researcher responsible for performing experiments and managing projects in a clinical/translational lung cancer research lab. Planned projects are translationally important from clinical perspective and will employ cutting edge laboratory and analytical techniques.

This role will focus on tumor signaling and interactions with the immune microenvironment in lung tumors that have loss of the LKB1 tumor suppressor, with goals of gaining mechanistic insight into the important clinical question of why these tumors are resistant to immunotherapy treatments, and identification and testing of candidate pathways that could be targeted to enhance immune sensitivity.

Using in vitro (tumor cell lines, and a T-cell co-culture system) and in vivo model systems (murine cell lines from an LKB1 deficient GEMM that can be used for immunocompetent allograft experiments, as well as the GEMM model itself), to test hypotheses on pathways responsible for immune resistance. Conduct cutting edge high throughput experiments with functional genomics screens (e.g. CRISPRi based screens), proteomics and phosphoproteomics, single cell RNAseq, to help dissect out the mechanisms that may be responsible for these effects, which can both strengthen conclusions from hypothesis based mechanistic studies, and also can be used to gain novel insights and identify new hypotheses. Results from preclinical work will be integrated with analyses from existing multi-omic data, and also access to clinical trial specimens and/or OSU clinical cohorts to test ideas in specimens from lung cancer patients.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in Biological Sciences or relevant field, or equivalent experience required; 5 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree, or 3 years of relevant experience required with Master's Degree. A background in cancer biology and/or immunology is a plus.
