Job Title: Research Scientist II, Gene R&D
Supervisor: Director of US Molecular Biology Gene R&D Dept.
Location: Piscataway, NJ (Fully Onsite)
Salary: $80,000 - $95,000 dependent upon experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize high-throughput sequencing library prep methods.
- Manage project timeline and leverage internal resources to push project forward.
- Generate, analyze, interpret and present data to a broader team.
- Closely communicate with other teams to ensure smooth tech transfer.
Requirements:
- PhD. degrees in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related fields.
- > 2 years of relevant experience in developing scalable NGS workflow in pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
- Direct experience in designing customized library preps across different high-throughput sequencing platforms. (Illumina and ONT)
- Broad molecular biology and microbiology knowledge with the ability to apply scientific intuition and interpretation to solve problems.
- Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in using and building both standard and customized bioinformatics pipeline.
- Proficiency in at least one of the common programming languages (Python, R, Java)
- Extensive experience in analyzing biological datasets and various file formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF etc.)
- Experience with the high-throughput NGS library prep workflow for clinical samples in a plus.
- Experience with cell-free protein expression is a plus.
Strong collaborative instinct with good time and resource management skills.
