We're looking for an experienced Reporter to join our Live team in Aberdeen, helping deliver high-quality digital journalism that informs, engages and grows audiences across our platforms.
Based in our modern Marischal Square office, you'll play a key role in breaking news, developing exclusive stories and delivering engaging content that keeps readers connected to what matters most in their communities.

What you'll be doing
As a Reporter in our Live team, you will:
- Deliver a consistent flow of relevant, accurate and audience-focused content including news stories, live blogs, explainers and video.
- Break news quickly and confidently, taking ownership of major stories as they develop.
- Identify and pursue original story opportunities, follow-ups and exclusives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contacts, public bodies, emergency services and key community stakeholders.
- Film pieces to camera for our app and social media channels.
- Use audience data, analytics and SEO best practice to maximise reach and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the newsroom, sharing ideas, contacts and opportunities.
- Support our audience-first approach by producing journalism that informs, engages and drives meaningful impact.
Requirements
What we're looking for
You'll be an experienced reporter with:
- Strong news judgement and a clear understanding of what makes a compelling story.
- A proven track record of identifying, breaking and developing major stories.
- Excellent writing skills and the ability to produce engaging content across digital platforms.
- Experience using analytics and SEO to inform editorial decisions.
- The confidence to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong contact-building skills and a proactive approach to sourcing stories.
- A sound understanding of Scots Law, the Editors' Code of Practice and responsible journalism.
- The ambition to compete for stories and grow audience through timely, accurate reporting.
- A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
