The repair assessment technician is responsible for the inspection, assessment, and documentation of customer centrifuge components and rotating assemblies received for repair. This position performs detailed cleaning, visual inspection, non destructive testing, and dimensional inspection to determine the condition of the components and establish the appropriate repair scope

Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Disassemble centrifuge components and rotating assemblies when required
  • Clean, degrease, and decontaminate centrifuge components and assemblies before inspection.
  • Remove process residues, oils, greases, product build up, and surface contaminants from stainless steel parts.
  • Use approved cleaning agents, solvents, tools, and equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Perform visual checks to confirm cleanliness and identify remaining contamination, damage or irregularities.
  • Perform complete visual inspections of centrifuge components and rotating assemblies. Identify cracks, corrosion, erosion, wear, deformation, impact damage, surface defects, and other abnormalities.
  • Perform dye penetrant testing in accordance with applicable procedures and requirements.
  • Handle, move, and stage components safely to prevent damage or recontamination.
  • Escalate critical or unusual findings to the appropriate engineering or management personnel.
  • Perform detailed dimensional inspections of components and assemblies using appropriate precision measuring equipment.
  • Measure critical fits, diameters, lengths, guiding surfaces, sealing surfaces, gasket grooves, bores , shafts, and other critical features.
  • Establish and maintain accurate measurement records and inspection data.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports documenting the condition of customer components.
  • Establish inspection findings as a technical baseline for repair activities and subsequent verification.
  • Maintain accurate and traceable inspection documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Properly store, handle and dispose of cleaning chemicals and waste materials.
  • Use required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or abnormal contamination to supervisors or quality personnel.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to cleanliness, safety, and workflow efficiency.
  • Further duties as assigned by supervisors.

Education and Experience:

  • Technical education in mechanical engineering, industrial mechanics, or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Additional training in precision measurement and mechanical inspection
  • Training or certification in non destructive testing is preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in mechanical inspection, maintenance, or repair of industrial machinery.
  • Experience with rotating equipment, pumps, centrifuges, turbines, or similar high precision mechanical systems is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience using precision measuring instruments
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings and tolerances.
  • Experience in disassembly and assembly of complex mechanical systems.
  • Experience in industrial repair environments, service workshops, or OEM service organizations is an advantage.  

Your Profile / Qualifications

  • Technical/ mechanical background, preferably in industrial machinery , rotating equipment, centrifuges, or similar equipment.
  • Experience with mechanical inspection and precision measurement.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment (metric) such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, depth gauges, dial indicators, and other inspection tools.
  • Experience with dye penetrant testing or other non destructive testing method is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand the function and interaction of complex rotating equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify subtle defects or dimensional deviations.
  • Ability to accurately document technical findings in written reports.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to work with inspection documentations, photographs, spreadsheets, and company systems.
  • Ability to safely disassemble, handle, and inspect large and precision machined mechanical components.
  • Understanding of cleanliness requirements for precision or industrial equipment.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions, safety procedures, and inspection feedback.
  • Ability to safely handle chemicals and use PPE as required.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a production team.
  • Experience and knowledge rigging, operating cranes, and handling heavy equipment.
